We've seen Hasbro lean towards CHUG and G1 style figures being painted to reflect their toys(Classics Astrotrain, MP Rodimus, etc) and we've seen Takara take those same figures and paint them to reflect their cartoon models. This question is inspired by that. If you were the product manager at Hasbro....which one would you choose/prefer?

I prefer cartoon overall, but I'd like it if Hasbro does toy and TakaraTomy does cartoon so we get both. Of course there should be leeway to make whatever deco look good and not omit details as a result (like the lack of painted details on MP Rodimus Prime's forearms and head come to mind for omitting details for trying to be really slavish to the original design).

I don't care for "accuracy" so much - I'd even take decos that are neither toy nor cartoon "accurate" but do the character justice overall.

I do like things like Classics Megatron though, whose colors seem to be inspired by his Action Master deco and Fusion Tank.

I'm ok with either type of homage, but I don't necessarily want either. I just want a good deco for the character. E.g., I vastly prefer Classics Starscream to the later Universe cartoon-homage Starscream. I like most of the Universe deco ok, but I absolutely hate the upside-down Decepticon symbols. I hated it in the original show, and I've hated every instance where it's been repeated since. Meanwhile, the fact that Classics Starscream's deco doesn't match either the toy or the cartoon is just fine by me.

Cartoon/Show accuracy. I can't think of too many off the top of my head who looked better as toys than on the show. Maybe the Technobots, but then they barely showed up on the show...

Although, mentioning Toon accuracy, can we get Octane as Grimlock, Cyclonus as Onslaught and some of the other AKOM flubbs?

Obviously carton accuracy. But with certain car guys, I like the toy sticker details like Mirage's classic sponsor logos or Prowl's proper police details that both versions were missing. That's what Reprolabels is for, at least when they're not pushing their tacky original sets.

This more or less is how I feel.

I love this idea.

I don't care where is get their inspiration form so long as one can look at the file product and say with out a doubt, "That is Nightbeat, just look at the colors and the distinctive head."

I'm generally happy with whatever looks good, myself.

But I'd really like it if we got nods to other continuities' versions of the character. But looking good comes first.

Nah, more like silver Jazz(Movie) or white Skywarp(Machine Wars). Stuff like that.

Or Armada Starscream colored Starscream.

I demand a comics accuracy option. Where's my magenta Hot Rod with silver thighs?

Or a Bumblebee with black stripes. I like that idea too so long as they make them different enough that they could be some one other that Bumblebee Starscream or Jazz.

I like a pretty toy. Beyond that, I've never paid enough attention that cartoon to toy paint differences bothered me.

I hope we get this with the Masterpiece figure. Making him like that purple magenta and pack him with toy colored Firebolt in Japan.
