 Question about spray paints for a custom., What type or brand do you want to use? |

I just want to paint some bare plastic pieces solid red, so I was going to go for the Krylon Fusion for durability and permanence, but I think the color offered is dark enough to where it's not going to be a good match for the bright, maybe slightly orange red that I want. I've noticed a lot of spray paints that mention enamel, but I'm pretty sure those are for metal, and contain acetone, which is bad for plastic. I saw a few things at Hobby Lobby from Testor's and Model Master that would be closer to the desired shade of red, including an enamel paint and a lacquer type.
So what do people really use for this, and where can you get it? Do I want a semi-gloss spray sealant of some kind if I don't use the Fusion paint? Any guidance would be appreciated, I want to use the right and best product in addition to getting the color I want. Here's a GREAT tutorial:
http://www.procustomizers.com/showthread.php?t=740 My advice is this; for a red color, use a flat white or grey Krylon Fusion basecoat, then follow the instructions in that thread for the color paint. This is the best to use for basecoats on plastic: http://www.krylon.com/products/camouflage_...ion_technology/ Khaki would be perfect for your red. Once it is basecoated with Fusion, you can use enamels or whatever.
