Sibsy posted some of her storyboards earlier and a fan cooked up this wonderful comparison video. I wanted to point this one out since I did the layout on most of the scenes in this sequence. I love working with Sibsy's boards since she draws the characters so expressively while keeping them on model. |

^I always like seeing stuff like that! I'm curious, though. I noticed that a few scenes differ just slightly from the story board. For example...Philomena raised her head out of the soup bowl in the show, but she never raises it out in the storyboard. In another scene, the hummingbird hops up on Philomena in the show, but stays on the ground in the storyboard. In another scene when Fluttershy and the hummingbird takes turns singing, the humming bird stays in the air afterwards in the show, but is sitting on Fluttershy in the storyboard. In another scene, Philomena hacks a giant nasty barf ball on Fluttershy's face in the show, but isn't like that in the storyboard.
Do layout artists have much freedom for tweaking scenes so that they are better than what the story board shows? Or, do you have to follow the story board exactly, leaving any possible changes and improvements for someone else down the road? |
