Man, my favorite part of Fort Max has always been the giant red stickers that tell me what number he is.

Protip: When trying to evoke a character, it helps if the end result in some way actually bears the slightest resemblance to that character.

Square peg, meet round hole. I think you'll be good friends.

It would be one thing if I had a spare Universe 2 Onslaught sitting around that was just 25% away from being in passable Fortress Maximus colors, and just needed a different head and some detailing to drive it home, but this doesn't even come close. I have to squint and concentrate really hard on what Fortress Maximus looks like to even kinda sorta see it. There's just not enough blue, no white at all, and that olive green throws the whole thing off horribly. Plus I'm never really a fan of sticking pictures of molded detailing on modern toys, it just looks cheesy.

But it's okay, someone out there will enjoy it. I wish Reprolabels would concentrate on getting their faction symbol stickers to come out nicely, rather than coming up with weird stuff like this.

Yeah, this is about what I expected from it when I learned it was just a black repaint of Hot Head. This is just terrible.

It took me several minutes just to figure out WTF they were going for. No thanks, nice try but I'd almost rather have a kit that keeps it as Onslaught with a mini-comic telling why he became a Headmaster.

Stickers won't cut it...Onslaught's green base color is just way off. You need to repaint the entire figure for this to work and then you have to repaint the weapons and backpack to match since they match the original green.

And I really wanted this...(IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-screamer.gif)

Seems an odd choice, since the base mold is by now old and hard to get a hold of. Decent head and guns, though, would be nice if you had a Headmaster body in need of a new cranium, but as an 'upgrade' and as a homage, it falls on it's face.

Wait, this is meant to be Fortress Maximus?!

I thought it was just a (bad) Hardhead Headmaster add-on.

From what I've been told, the logic behind the decision is that "everyone's perfectly happy with their Fansproject Bruticus upgrade for Onslaught, so this mold's useless to everyone".

Henkei Onslaught is my main Onslaught since he turned out to be much prettier to me, but I already got rid of the Hasbro version a couple years ago. The purple and gray guy in the ROTF combiner set doesn't look like Onslaught, and is just there to be part of the combiner for me really. Kind of the same with the new DOTM Vortex, he's better as a stand alone, accurately colored version of the character than the one in the combiner set is.

They should have just added some yellow missiles to a set and made the head of Minicon Dualor. The colors aren't an exact match but, well, they aren't a match here either...

Or better yet, they could've done the head in dark green with grey robot parts and made it a Japanese-Headmaster-style upgrade to Groundshaker:
