The attention to detail with the paint ops makes this a lot more awesome that it would otherwise be. -------------------- |

Yeah, I was turned off at this before, but it looks awesome now. I remember his face being kind of wonky, but here it looks crisp and wonderful. I may be able to justify this now.

If I had more that just one tape that turned in to a tape it might be worth in. I think I'm happy with ML Soundwave Classics Overkill Universe Ravage, and Ratbat, and United Rumble and Frenzy.

The Botcon version is said to be pretty damn bad, toy wise. Even if they improved the QC and articulation from that version, the proportions are still awful. Even lacking tape during feature, the Music Label one is far superior.

Seems like they have a lot of them to go around, but I'm really wanting to hear the reviews on the regular release version of this before I bite. I'm hoping the bad review was just due to it being a slightly unfinished preview version that was available at Botcon. I can deal with the proportions and the leg articulation being less than ideal, because I do really like the way he looks otherwise, but I can't deal with bad joint tolerances and quality control on top of those things.
I really want to like him, because Music Label Soundwave is super boring. I would have been interested, but besides the terrible proportions, and that part sticking out from his back, the flimsiness and backwards knees kinda kill it for me.
It's a shame too, doing some alterations to the transformation, and sacrifice some altmode accuracy, and he could have been great. |

I was expecting a blue Unicron figure modded with hedgehog spikes.

And seriously, if anybody has already ordered him, don't skimp on the reviews! Situations like this make reviews crucial to my wallet and my monies.

I'm astonished at the attention to details.
I'm seriously tempted to get it, he looks to be about the same price as ML Soundwaves last time I checked... except he's way more exciting. That said, I am hoping some reviews surface to help me decide. -------------------- QUOTE You're far too young to be this bitter and angry at the world.... ![]() |

backwards knees kinda kill it for me. He doesn't have backwards knees. The joints in his thigh are transformation joints, the proper knee joint is further down. As far as proportions go, they're not ideal, but that's what happens when three-dimensional physicality interacts with a blatantly cheaty design. And really, he's not all that far off from Device Label Blaster, and people give him a pass for whatever reason. This post has been edited by mx-01 archon: Jul 6 2011, 03:25 PM |

Guess that reviewer on /toy/ never figured it out. Blaster's proportions still look a bit better, maybe because the bulk seems more solid. Still waiting for the day when we can get a truly definitive Soundwave toy. I love the Generations figure, just he doesn't have the gimmick. And then there's Cybertron, which had the gimmick, and was damn near perfect, except those damn legs. |

I heard from people who handled one at Botcon that it was kind of a floppy piece of crap and felt pretty cheap for the price being asked. Can anyone corroborate/refute that?

I'm pretty sure that's the exact same review that everybody else is talking about (with that crap about the backwards knees). No second opinions yet.

Seems they could have engineered the thigh closer to the knee, and then fold the lower leg in half to give more bulk. It would also keep the lower legs from looking so wide and thin. Other than that I like it.

I definitely like the new pics. I am uninterested if the review holds true, but if not and the quality and articulation is good, I will buy it.

I was expecting a blue Unicron figure modded with hedgehog spikes. Now that's a better use of customization fodder Unicron than having him as a combiner base. Most definitely. -------------------- |
