AFAIK it looked like Hot Rod and BW Megatron both got more votes then Erector. At least according to Jeysie's compilation of votes. A number of sites never published the results they sent in, and when the votes from sites that did were added up, Erector was close enough to the top five that he only needed a handful of points to reach the final vote. -------------------- TFWiki.net - The Transformers Wiki: because where else are you going to learn about The Battle for Planet Earth?

Does this mean Transformers are stuck with the color they got? Erector couldn't go to the body shop for a green paintjob? It would explain all the weird F-15 colors and whatnot. Maybe a TF's color is an inherent property of their metal composition (or like an outer skin layer at least), and getting a paint job would be like us wearing full body makeup. Uncomfortable and messy at best, offensive at worst. What about Twincast and Soundblaster and a good chunk of G2? You're really using "comic geeks recognize mainstream cartoon character" as an argument that the character is famous? You're really claiming Dinobot isn't famous? It's not like he won a popular vote or anything. Or got a toy in the Universe line... was that before or after the hall of fame? |

Uncomfortable and messy at best, offensive at worst. What about Twincast and Soundblaster and a good chunk of G2? Could be something inherent in the living metal that can only be changed by extreme messures. Explosive Death and Complete Resurection is fairly extreme so that would give the tape decks a pass. And the G2 alterations were Forestonite, a "magic" chemical that bestowes super powers. That could certainly alter "body chemistry" Maybe changing colors is the equivalent of getting a tatoo for humans but over your whole body? Not impossible, but uncomfortable and undesireable to many? I know it's not a "serious" profile but when you look back it DOES seem as if TFs keep their "natural" colorschemes far more usually than they keep alt forms or almost anythinig else about them. Not always, but preferably... ZacWilliam, wishes this discussion was its own thread as it's much more interesting than the HoF junk... -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

It's not like he won a popular vote or anything. Or got a toy in the Universe line... was that before or after the hall of fame? Dinobot's Universe toy was before the HOF by a year. Keep in mind, though, that he was one of only two BW molds in the 25th line, and I'm sure a large part of why he was chosen was because his original toy kinda sucks. In other words, had 1996 Dinobot been up to par with most other BW toys, the "Predacon slot" in the 25th line could have gone to Tarantulus or Waspinator or whomever. Also keep in mind that other BW characters also got new molds that year without relying on an anniversary homage line - blackarachnia and Wasp/inator. Thinking about it, I'm sure one of the reasons Dinobot doesn't make the cut for extra-BW fiction is due to the higher prominence of the G1-based Dinobots, most typically Grimlock, who have been used much more in comics, toys, and animation than Dinobot has. -------------------- |

Not always, but preferably... ZacWilliam, wishes this discussion was its own thread as it's much more interesting than the HoF junk... It 's likely the outer layer of a Cybertronians' "skin" is composed of a "nanite-weave" which contain chromatophore analogues. These maintain a transformers' "Electronic Paint", which provides each cybertronian with its unique colourscheme. Spies, and other ne'er-do-wells have developed software which hacks the programing of their nanite-weave, to allow them to change their colours at will, using it for camouflage and deception. It has been known for power surges to corrupt the programming of these nanites, causing them to create strange, and bizzare new patterns, with bright colours. This phenomenon is, of course, refered to as Spontaneous Recolouration. Of course, when a cybertronian dies, and their systems go offline, the nanite-weave goes offline as well, and reverts to its factory-setting of "plain grey". This is often the most obvious method of diagnosing a dead cybertronian at a distance. |

I'm dissapointed SkyByte didn't make it. I like Shockwave, I like Jazz, Waspinator is cool and even Grimlock is ok. But as much as I like Waspy, I think I'm backing Erector on this. It's a kind of lunacy we rarely get to see with polls like this and the bio shows Hasbro were good sports about it. Besides, you know most of these guys are gonna get in eventually.

No, I haven't read this enitre thread, but do we know the Hall of Fame has any relationship to name licensing? I mean, does Hasbro have to keep the names they put into the Hall? Or could they let one expire (say, Erector wins) & not have to do something like yank the character from the Hall years later.
Also, does this Hall do anything to give Hasbro a greater claim on the name? ... As for my vote, its going to Shockwave. Grimlock & Jazz have awesome toys. Waspinator's was good enough (at least compared to G1). Shockwave really only has his G1 toy, and a partial attempt in AEC (not the same character as G1 & is a bit fidley). We need a new Classics Shockwave. Hence, my vote. Its the logical choice. /Vulcan Kevin This post has been edited by Kevin S: Apr 15 2011, 11:55 AM -------------------- My FlickR folder...
And yes, I was too lazy to come up with a decent TF related forum name, and just *GASP* used my own. |

And many Micromaster characters have gotten new toys recently too: TF2007 Big Daddy Universe Countdown Universe Stormcloud Botcon Flack HFTD Oilpan (a renamed Skystalker) Even Erector himself got a homage with TF2007 Mudflap. But wait! Maybe Erector represents the forgotten Pretenders and Action Masters too?! What about them... Bludgeon Thunderwing Skullgrin Axor and Chopsaw homaging Axor's motor cycle, ... all in the last year. And the Pretenders were heavily focused on in IDW's early comics too. Even Jackpot and Skyfall, two Action Master exclusive characters, goten love in recent club fiction. Hell, even Mainframe got a cameo in Animated! Add one more, you forget Banzai-Tron. Which looking at that list I'd say Action Masters are the forgotten era, I'd sure love to get a Jackpot from a Jazz toy. -------------------- |

And Botcon Double Punch. And 2007 Movie Inferno was based off Tote. 2007 Movie Jolt Based off of Roadhugger. And Tread Bolt was based on, well, Tread Bolt. Then there was the "Detour" name applied to several foreign releases of RotF Dead End. Not sure how you'd want to count that, since the alt mode was very much MM Detour's in red... -------------------- |

...so Hasbro's chomping at the bit to expand into other eras when they aren't pimping the movies. The fandom should catch up, by recognizing those kinds of characters at times like these.
Jackpot from Jazz would be wonderful. This post has been edited by Erector: Apr 15 2011, 01:06 PM -------------------- ![]() |
