I want to see this but have heard bad things, but it looks good in previews so I'm torn. Anyone havea non spoiler review? Seth Green doesn't seem like that much of an action hero uy to me.

Well it's a bit too heavy on Seth Rogan and Kato kicks all kinds of butt. Really the best things in the movie is the car and Kato. I could really lose Rogan and be happy with it. -------------------- |

Kato fails. Considering they're following the role in Bruce Lee's footsteps, a cantopop "star" that relies on CGI and wires was easily the worst direction to go in.

im confused. why didn't Kevin Smith direct this? he's been wanting to do it for years. and yes I know I at one time he was going to do it but then dropped out. But he's worked with Seth before in Zack and Miri make a porno. I think this a missed opportunity for both.
However, its decent. -------------------- Silent Bob: Adventure, excitement... a Jedi craves not these things.

Which is the point of the Green Hornet. You could lose Hornet and just focus on Kato and it'd be awesome. It's a product of the times really. Kato fails. Considering they're following the role in Bruce Lee's footsteps, a cantopop "star" that relies on CGI and wires was easily the worst direction to go in. If you're going to criticize in a jerkish way, you should get it right. Jay Chou is from Taiwan and is a very influential singer/songwriter, and as far as I know, writes and sings mostly in Mandarin and not Cantonese (Cantopop meaning basically Hong Kong)--you know, since he's Taiwanese. He's not known as an actor and he's made a few duds in the process (Kung Fu Dunk...ouch), but that doesn't put his "star" status in any kind of question. It's pretty immature to just poo-poo something simply because we can't get the original ever again. In the realm of Bruce Lee remakes, both Jet Li and Donnie Yen have turned in fine interpretations of Chen Zhen in Fist of Legend and New Fist of Fury (Yen also just did Return of Chen Zhen last year), respectively, without tarnishing anything. Give Jay Chou a chance. I haven't seen it, but CGI and wires doesn't necessarily mean Kato won't be cool. How many recent great kung fu movies HAVEN'T used CGI and wires, for that matter? But he's worked with Seth before in Zack and Miri make a porno. I think this a missed opportunity for both. Well, that's the thing. He dropped out precisely because he didn't want to direct; he doubted his ability to. So his script sat in a drawer. Then Rogen turned in a script, and during the search for a director Smith was probably never even a consideration. Well it's a bit too heavy on Seth Rogan and Kato kicks all kinds of butt. Really the best things in the movie is the car and Kato. I could really lose Rogan and be happy with it. Which is the point of the Green Hornet. How do you figure? Other than Bruce Lee being the most memorable part of the TV show (and for stuff he did after the show, for that matter), Kato has never really dominated the franchise. My date and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was a bit too 'funny' at times, but overall it was a fun movie. I really want that car!

It's okay. Fun to watch, but pretty dumb. Probably more Seth Rogen than I'd like.

Rogan is the reason why I didn't go see the movie. Don't care much for him; he's like a slightly skinnier Jack Black.
And the trailers made it look like a self-parody, anyway. |

Seth Rogan If you're going to correct someone at least do it correctly. Seth Rogen PS - The movie was horrible. You can tell that Gondry hated his time on set and that Rogen had way too much creative power over the direction the movie took. -------------------- Yep.

Just got back.
That was a hell of a fun flick. Reminded me of Ghostbusters in tone - a no holds bared action comedy with a great style to it. I really enjoyed it. -------------------- |

It's a pretty fun movie. It could have been a great movie if Seth Rogen wasn't in it. He just quite franky sucks. Not as bad as Will Ferrell or David Spade (Just go away. Both of you. Go away. PLEASE!), but still pretty low on to good actors list.
I did like that it was about an incompetent hero. Car was cool. Liked the door guns. P.S. - Green Hornet was a radio show first, so why is it in the comic section? I'm not sure if there's even is a comic... This post has been edited by Blade Raider: Jan 18 2011, 01:29 AM -------------------- |
