Had Cassettes on the mind recently thanks to the four new JTF Cassettes, and this month's contest and Redshift's awesome CGI. So I figured it was maybe a time they got an entry to themselves. (IMG:http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/5784/page22ws.jpg) I really do love cassettes, so I couldn't resist doing one design of my own. Mooncry the owl is based partially on Ratbat's transform scheme but with a few twists of her own. I'd give alot for new "exactly in G1-style" (well, with tampograms instead of stickers) animal cassettes. -ZacWilliam, non-record-ified Brontobot possibly coming next time... -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

Wow, that's a pretty awesome origin for the Recordicons right there.
Also, saurian Mechanimals would absolutely make my day, Zac. -------------------- QUOTE I'm bad at puns and not much good at anything else! |

So were Rumble and Frenzy, like, tribal cybertronian pygmies before they got the upgrade? They're minicons outfitted with the Recordicon "upgrade". This post has been edited by Cabooceratops: Apr 19 2012, 12:28 AM -------------------- QUOTE I'm bad at puns and not much good at anything else! |

Very good! Wow, that's a pretty awesome origin for the Recordicons right there. Also, saurian Mechanimals would absolutely make my day, Zac. Thanks. I'd been asked a bunch about doing the animal cassettes and whether they counted as mechanimals or not. Honestly I like my cassettes Marvel Comic style where they actually have real personalities and sentience like their profile bios, but I couldn't deny they'd also been played as being mechanimals in canon as well. Dark of the Moon actually gave me the answer when they canonized that animal-bots like their Laserbeak and Ravage were "upgraded" Mechanimals raised to sentience. Best concept to come out of the films I think. I like this origin as it's kind of a "best of both worlds" idea. BTW, as I typed that I decided that the combiner cassettes should be a later evolution of the process, where two mechanimals are spark-grafted to each other rather than to the Hub/Host robot to strengthen their sparks to full TF level. This would grant them greater independance from their "Master" and a combined robot mode of their own. Cool. I wouldn't have though about that if I hadn't been responding here. Thanks for the idea. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) Oh, and Brontobots are definately coming just as soon as I settle on a design I really like. Gone through several different version already. QUOTE That is awesome. Glad you like it. i so badly wants an owl cassette now. i love cassettebots, this page is uber awesome (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) Thanks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) And me too! I just made her up for this page but I love the idea of an owl tape and I can picture in my head exactly how Mooncry tfs and I'd kill to have a real toy of it now. QUOTE Very good! I love the technical fluff of the quantum-state recording drums and dual access torso ports, giving purpose to these feature long before anyone invents a magnetic reel cassette I figure it's a distinguishing feature of the type, so it's a good idea to give it some purpose besides looking tape-ish. Anyone pic up on my little BW reference there btw? "Auric cylanders" sliced into smaller components would yeild you "golden disks." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif) Thanks all for the kind words. -ZacWilliam, really glad everyone liked this one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) I think it's really cool when I get a chance to really think about and flesh out long established facets of TFs like this. OH MY DEAR GOD! That is amazing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) THANK YOU SO MUCH! That is the coolest thing I've seen in forever. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) I've never had anyone else draw one of my designs before. Really. I can't use caps or emoticons enough to express the huge smile on my face just at the sight of her. Colors you ask... Colors... (SHOOT I'VE ONLY EVER DRAWN HER IN BLACK AND WHITE! THINK! THINK!) Heh, no problem, give me a minute. I'd pull a color scheme together. -ZacWilliam, if he wasn't already sitting at the computer would be skipping there like an excited schoolboy... soooo cooool. Edit - Oh,before I forget, I like your version of her chest plate better than my own. The lines I had were making it read a little skull-like and I wasn't thrilled with that. Your cleaner chest it nicer. This post has been edited by ZacWilliam1: Apr 20 2012, 08:22 PM -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

Fiddled around a little. Here are the two options I came up with on short notice.
Brown, white and grey? (IMG:http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/5387/mooncol1.jpg) or Blue, white and grey. EDIT: Think whiter helmet is a bit better... (IMG:http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/3254/mooncolor2.jpg) It was tough. I wanted to avoid Cassette color schemes that have been done And I kinda wanted to suggest a snowy-owl, but too much white was... well too much white. I also liked a soft, dusky color scheme that suggested night, but anytime I added anything purpleish it immediately read as "Decepticon." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif) I like things about both of these, but I'm not quite satisfied with either... Thoughts or suggestions? Anyone want to vote? -ZacWilliam, teach me not to come up with color scheme when I invent a character. Holy crap Redshift that is AWESOME. Maybe I should commission you for all my cassettes...
As for colors.... both of those schemes looks great imo. Although I would give the brown one gold weapons and the blue one silver weapons, or maybe even light blue like Rosanna. Mooncry = blue and white Barnsniper = brown and white This post has been edited by Admiral Lilwall: Apr 20 2012, 10:27 PM -------------------- Lilwall.net |

Howdy mechs and femmes! Well, since we got to see a "Cassette-ified" version of a Brontobot last time I though this time we'd take a look at the big beastie in its natural configuration. Few Cybertronians have ever ventured as deep into subcybertronia as the Outer Core, and fewer still have ever returned from the deadly Dyno-Jungles.
(IMG:http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/7258/page23w2.jpg) Impressively, at the height of the War this forbidding place served as secret headquarters for the Lightning Strike Coalition, which earned the team their eventual nickname. -ZacWilliam has a few more (less saurian) jungle inhabitants on tap for next time. Between Botcon weekend capturing my attention and a couple of different sicknesses passing through our house I gave the Bestiary a week off last week, but we're back this week for another look into the deep lost world of the Outer Core, far below the surface of Cybertron. The mighty Machadron hail from IDW's Spotlight: Arcee and the Flaminglow was a request from the wife. Both women it's good to keep happy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif)
