I just saw this on CBR and wasn't sure to include it in the General Spider-Man discussion thread or start a new topic of it's own. It's just a teaser cover on Previews, but still...interesting.

Let me guess, another comic where Peter decides to stop being Spider-Man. Only this time, it'll last a while, so we can have the comic entirely focus on Peter's manwhore sex life over the following year, without any pesky things like villains and action getting in the way.

Wow I'm surprised at the reaction at this. The last time Marvel did this it turned out to be Kaare Andrews's excellent Spider-Man: Reign. There is nothing except that image, and Marvel refuses to comment on it at this time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)

Ideally, the character should be killed and the franchise left to rest for a few years before coming back, much like Star Trek. Of course this will never happen. I'm so sick of this endless cycle of rehashed and reused "changes" to the status quo that end up changing nothing. Wash Rinse and Repeat. Maybe I should just get out of comics altogether. |

Didn't they just do a painfully contrived "fake-out" death where Kaine swapped clothes with Peter between issues then got killed so Kraven the Hunter could be magically brought back to life?

to be honest if this was the 60's or 70's they'd run this comic and it would be a fun little issue without any hype. As it is now we see a cover and go mad at it because we think it might be something cataclysmic.

Man, rehashing the Death thing again?
Bring his Parents back again first or something. Oh wait no. That won't work. I keep forgetting the point of Modern Spider-Man books is to repeatedly kick Peter Parker in the balls as hard as possible, and ensure you take away everything good and stable in his life because while the writers/editors were jealous of a Make Believe Nerd having a better life then they do. The Gwen Clone will come back, she and Peter will hook up things will go great, he'll hang up the tights, and then BOOM! Right back to the "Gwen Stacy is a Slutty Whore" aspect when Peter walks in on her and Harry. Oh, and Aunt May will die for the billionth time somewhere in here too. Thus leading to "I Am The Spider" part 2. Why? Because Marvel hates Spider-Man. It really is that simple.
