So, this evening, I got to thinking: we have some art of the team transports (the Mark 1 and 2 OmegaJets), but we have yet to have any indication of what the satellite itself looks like.

I wanted to put it out there for discussion, and to see if anybody might be willing to have a go at it. I was going to get in touch with somebody, but decided that I'd rather let the community itself see what we can come up with before I just sort of unilaterally had someone design and draw it.

So... thoughts? When you think of it at this moment, what do you see?

For myself, I kind of once again see an Omega incorporated into the design somehow. The satellite itself isn't bulky per se (like the pre-Crisis JLA HQ or DS9), but longer akin to the Watchtower.

Ideas from everyone else?

EDIT: Also, a name for it. "Omega Guardians Satellite" is too klunky. Something cool and flowing like "Watchtower", "Panopticon", or "Avalon" (a satellite HQ belonging to a friend's group) have nice flows to them.

I could take a whack at it Ursa, I haven't done too much with scenery but this idea just seems too fun not to give it a try. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) COuld inspire a bit for the dead-enders crib as well. ;D

I vote Valhalla for the name. Solely because Norse mythology is badass.

Olympus.

I actually had thought of that as well, but then upon further reflection thought, "Our guys have placed themselves on Olympus? Wow. Pretentious much?" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)

A good name, especially since it's the Hall of Heroes in Norse myth. But I'm afraid it's kind of got the same overtones as setting up our guys on a base called Olympus. I was hoping for something simpler, but Valhalla is certainly something to keep in mind.

Call it........Omen

That can also be the name of the A.I. that runs the place.

Like so:

Rough basic shape for my idea, going to refine further but I was trying to go with what you mentioned about incorporating an Omega symbol into it ursa! There would be solar collector panelsall long the 'middle base' of the symbol, hence the left side drawing.
Finally a sign of artist block going away. X_X

I'm not sure about naming the headquarters itself 'Omen', but I like the idea of naming the A.I. that maintains and coordinates the place that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ironhide.gif)

I think you're on the right track. Maybe watch the dip in the top arch of the omega shape though. We don't want it looking like an orbital version of a popular chain fast food joint. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif)

Well if we go for Omen the AI, I think we need to acronymize it.

Also, I submit this design for it:
(IMG:http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t285/Detour84/OMEN.png)

As for Smokey's satellite design... it's on the right track, but it needs some tweaking. Right now the side view looks like the McDonald's Arch.

Agreed. But since it's TriBlurr's idea, final say of course belongs to him. I submit...

Omnipresent
Electronic
Neuropresence

Observational
Metatasking
Electronic
Neuropresence

Omnipresent
Multitasking
Electronic
Neuropresence

...as suggestions.

"Guardians of Fortress Moon-Omega"

GFMO.

Praise the acronym. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif)

Just, because "Omega-Moon Fortress" Guardians may not always communicate well. But is equally awesome as an exclamation. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif)

+1 to Omen as the AI. I haven't taken the time to brainstorm yet for names of the satellite itself.

I'd go with Observational Multitasking Electronic Neuropresence, if only because between Omnipresent and Neuropresence, there's redundance.

Doctor Dave is too genre-savvy to go to ANY satellite named after a place you go when you die. "Valhalla? I respectfully submit 'hug that' to that name. I know it'll get knocked out of orbit eventually, but why tempt fate?" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)

Well Valhalla is a place where norse warriors and gods prepare for Ragnarok.

Just like how the OGs would use it to prepare for Earthbound troubles.

What about calling the satellite "The Overseer"?

Or maybe I've been playing too much Fallout. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)

A bit, yeah. And once again, probably something more suited to a chief AI.

Naming things is hard!
