I think Catwoman could be in it. I think in the comics, she was a cat burglar with great agility and can mess you up with her whip.

I like the title, it's simple and if Nolan has a specific theme in mind to conclude a character arc for Bruce then it fits as well. As soon as I read it this morning I thought that this probably implies to Bruce rising out of the darkness he was in at the end of the last movie. There is heavy speculation that Talia is the female lead that Nolan is busy casting at the moment. I'd love if Hugo Strange were included, I could see Tom Hardy playing a creepy/intellectual version of the psychiatrist, perhaps a cross between his Eames character from "Inception" and an intellectual.

Bane would be a fittingly ironic choice of villain, given the title of the film. He could use Azrael too, since he doesn't have "powers" per se (retcons notwithstanding) and fits well into a Bane story, as does Talia.

Ooh, Azrael might be good, and could totally work in the "realistic" universe Nolan's set up: group of religious uber-zealots have been training a weapon to combat, say, the League of Shadows: that weapon is Azrael and his target is Talia Head. Tom Hardy as Jean-Paul Valley, Milla Jovovich as Talia.

Emily Blunt would be my personal choice for Talia. I think she'll be young. The novelization mentioned her as attending University or something and was in correspondence with Ra's who was writing her about Bruce. It was rumored a few months ago that Blunt was being considered for Catwoman but those were proven false.

Ideally, I'd like Scarecrow to be back. Larger roll than The Dark Knight, but maybe not as big as Batman Begins. And then plant some hints that in this universe, he, as opposed to the Joker, would be Batman's main rival throughout their lives.
As for actual villain, with both Penguin and Riddler shot down, I can't see myself caring all that much for them. |

I'm a huge Black Mask fan...I don't know why really, I just really love the guy...both of them...and while I don't think that Mask would be in the movie he's a possibility because of his mob role. With the decimation of the mob in "The Dark Knight" and their leadership being broken someone like him or the Penguin could step in and take control. I really do think we'll see Taila attempt to avenge her father while romancing Bruce, after all as Ra's told Bruce in the first movie "Ra's al Ghul used theatrics and deception as weapons as does his...daughter." (that is how I'd reveal her identity to Bruce.

For me I'd love to see Black Mask in the Mobster role. While Bats is trying to stop him (and step out of the wanted list that ended the 2nd film and the title hints at), I'd like to see the Riddler legitimately trying to figure out who he is but becoming more and more obsessed with it.
For the hired muscle or fight scenes we'd need I'd love Killer croc. He can be done realistically. He's a guy with a skin condition. |

As much as it would be visually interesting to see Killer Croc in "The Dark Knight Rises" I really don't think that type of character is interesting to Nolan or fits into his Gotham City, even an reimagined Croc. I think that we can cross off all the more elaborate and over the top rouges like Mr. Freeze, etc. I think that Nolan already has a clear mind of the type of story that he wants to tell, this is one of the reasons why it's taken this long for things to get going on the project because he needed a break (reports from the previous production and even on Inception are that he has really intense shoots and gets stressed out) and required time to figure out a story that would be interesting. He stated after "The Dark Knight" came out that if they were to do the third film that they would not set out to top it.
The fact that we're going to be getting major "Dark Knight Rises" and "Superman" news over the next few months as we head into production for both movies has me salivating. 2012 is definitely going to be the year of the comic book film!! Dark Destroyer -------------------- The Destroyer of Worlds
