I was recently reading Susp's well-crafted review of the recent Power Core Combiners Huffer & Caliburst two-pack and noticed that the pictures that he had posted showed a toy with a slight but very noticeable difference from mine. (Review here).

Those who have acquired PCC Huffer, this question: Does your Huffer sport a hood that is colored a brighter shade of orange than the orange used on the rest of the figure (like his) or does your Huffer's hood match the shade of orange used on the rest of the figure (like mine)?

Pics of your Huffer figures are appreciated, but not necessary, and a mention of which country you acquired the figure in as well as when you might have bought it would be very helpful. I'm just trying to piece together whether this variance was a standard running change (I acquired my Huffer about 3 months after Susp got his), an international-market variant (I bought mine in Canada) or a simple error (either version).

Thanks!

My Huffer's orange is homogeneous, and I'm in the US.
It was probably from the first patch that showed up in my area sometime last month.

My orange has a very distinctive bright orange hood that doesn't even try to match the rest of him.

I got him from TRU.com.

Near as I can tell, all of the initial release of Huffers in the US have the mismatched orange hood. My observation suggests this was corrected relatively quickly, though. What Huffer's I've seen in stores recently almost all show the matching hood as best I can tell.

Mine doesn't match the rest of him. I was among the first to find him (first reported on the Allspark IIRC) back on 6/29/2010.

I've got the bright orange hood version (purchased early July), and was unaware of the corrected(?) version until this thread.

Same here. I just thought it was an odd deco quirk. I might start checking out the Huffers in stock locally a little more closely since I'm having an issue with the locking tab on the cab/shoulders.

Weird, I like the extra splash of bright color that the mismatched orange hood provides. It always seemed deliberate to me, since it wasn't even close to the plastic color, and the character was originally bright orange. Seems a little too dull with the mustard colored hood.

Thanks for the heads up, I've amended my review to reflect the running change.

Yeah, same. The molds colorscheme is much more boring in the 'corrected' configuration.

I like the dark orange hood. It breaks up the color of the cab rather nicely.

The matching hood makes this look even more Machine Wars.

When I got mine I was seriously looking all over for an auto-transform trigger...

Mine has a bright safety orange. I actually think that the contrast looks better (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ironhide.gif)

Bright orange, looks better, blah blah blah, bought last week--not that that matters. The date code's probably more telling.

(Mine is 00901.)

Mine's the same. I got it from TRU like right after your sighting.

Got mine at a TRU fairly soon after they came out. He's got the dark orange hood. Like many others have said, I always figured it for a deliberate choice, and I still like it better.
