I read this on the TFWiki, so I figured I'd look it up as I haven't heard anything about this yet.

That's definitely not Straxus' head but Skullgrin's. Though I thought it was bigger than that. I think this PDF makes it look more robotic than I remember too, but that might be either my bad memory or the fact it's lineart in PDF.

It's kinda weird how they keep doing this.

At this rate, Tracks' instructions will have Wheeljack's head.

I wouldn't be surprised if Terradive, Jazz, Perceptor, and Lugnut all have the other head rather than their own in their instructions.

His colors were a lot more 1988 then those. With the gray and same hot pink as the original.

Yeah, I'm not sure why he would have red like that. Skullgrin never had any huge amounts of red. Or any red.

I can't really remember anything about Skullgrin from the slideshow other than that he was mostly light gray with some purple, so most of this is just guesswork. If I were doing it myself, he'd be mostly medium gray with a lighter gray head and some light gray paint.

omg I had forgotten how bad Pretenders sucked! They came out when I was into my GI Joe phase and wasn't paying too much attention to Transformers.

As I was going along trying to apply the purple and grey, it got to be extremely boring looking. I'd noticed when looking for references for this that the Marvel scans showed Skullgrin's purple parts turned out rather more red. It's a stretch, I don't deny. But it got me an extra color to stick on the robot mode.

Hopefully the actual toy makes a bit better use of just purples and greys. I have to say I never appreciated how uninteresting Skullgrin is from a coloration view before now. Good thing he had that skull-head.

This is closer to how I remember it too. I think his purple was a bit more towards hot pink, but my memory is very foggy on this (other than he was ample amounts gray and purple/pink).

Kind of disappointed, but I guess it was silly to expect a more "accurate" head at such a small size.

Still, I'll be skipping Darkmount and getting Skullgrin for sure.

Well, I wanted Bludgeon recolored as Skeletor. I guess this'd do as a runner-up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)
