GENERAL SPIDEY DISCUSSION, EVERYONE.

Especially considering the current storyline, Dying Wish. Which leads to Amazing Spider-Man #700, ending the long-running series. Which leads to SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN.

Big things happening in the world of Spidey, especially considering Dying Wish.

Discuss. There will be spoilers.

Ultimate Ben Riley was black. He wasn't a spider-clone, but retconning 616 Ben into a different race could be one of the unseen effects of OMD.

I thought Ben Riley ended up being the real Peter Parker. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-blitz.gif)

Didn't they just redo the Clone Saga to fit in with the new continuity and Ben Reilly was still a cracka?

How on Earth can they say "I feel like we've done as much as we can do in terms of Peter Parker's time as Spider-Man." with a straight face? All that's been done the past decades is rehashing old ground to the point where they've even retconned his marriage, certainly one of the most character evolving moments of Spider Man's life.
There are so many things that could be touched on that they haven't even attempted. Letting the character grow naturally, middle age, kids, the whole 9 yards.

This 'we've done everything' jive smacks of a writer/editor who can't look beyond the 20 something years and find worth in middle age. What a horribly short sighted, stupid thing to say/attitude to have, especially for a comic book editor. If you truly think you've explored everything you can, then walk away and let someone else have a crack.

This reminds me of the early 90s, when the Justice Society of America comic was a fan favorite with good sales yet was canned after ten issues because Mike Carlin didn't like the idea of "old superheroes".

Marvel is also getting ready to introduce the new Spider-Girl shown in "Young Allies" in "Amazing Spider-Man 637 (I thought that was the arc name for the first Avengers arc). This sounds like Alexander Luthor from Infinite Crisis, "we must find a better Spider-Man!" how the hell is Peter Parker not a "better" Spider-Man? I'm intrigued about the notion but they'd better not hug around with this too much or else it'll be Clone Saga part deux IMO.

Uhh...dude, that was Arana in a new costume in Young Allies. She apparently loses her powers during Grim Hunt.

I'm still begging for them to finally stabilize Kaine's molecular structure and have him take over as Spidey once Peter's memories get fixed.

But from the events of the last ASM...I don't think Kaine's even alive.

Okay I didn't know since I was getting confused with the "Spider-Girl" shown in the Avengers first arc that was standing next to the future Hulk at the end of the first issue. There's been speculation that is Peter and Felica's daughter.

Guessing they want to copy DC's "success" of having someone else other than Bruce Wayne be Batman.

*sigh*

I miss "The Spectacular Spider-Man" show a little more every day... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-screamer.gif)

Tags for the one or two people who haven't gotten to the issue yet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif)

HIGHLIGHT to view:
I want to know how Kaine looked "normal" in the cemetery scene -- he was too bulky, there's no way a mere shave/haircut would make anyone mistake him for Peter (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-depth.gif)

But yeah, on another board the speculation is that he somehow switched places with Peter in between their argument and the final fight scene, and that was actually him that got "killed" (hey, this is comics, death is never permanent! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif) ) in the cliffhanger (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ball.gif)
