I dunno if anyone here follows Notch's blog, but he says that he'll release the SMP server stuff tomorrow. I think its still mobless, but its better than none and we should be able to play with each other.

I think you need a rival in minecraft...
Like what if there was a giant tunneling worm on ever big island. It makes new tunnels when it burrows that may collapse after a while. So it makes new areas, and mucks with pre established structures. When you come across one of its tunnels, you have to follow it quickly and hunt down the beast. I've been playing starcraft a bit, and I kept thinking how cool it would be for an ultralisk to pop out of the ground, and then a nydalus worm. And then tunneling monster to harass you/for you to hunt made sense. -------------------- What signature?

The creepers and the skeletons kill me more than anything. I'll be minding my onw business, climbing a waterfall on my way out of a cave with plenty of treasured goodies and a damn creeper'll fall down the waterfall and BLAMMO, I'm chili on the ground.

EDIT: So, either no one has seen this, or people are trying; failing and giving up. The server will be up all night, and probably tomorrow as well. Please try to connect and let me know if you succeed or not. Also, I learned the following things from my own screwing around. 1.) You will always log in at the same place, BUT you will respawn at the place you died. 2.) There is no point in making anything overly fancy right now. You don't keep anything when you log out, and seemingly all the chests empty themselves as well. 3.) You cannot modify the log in area AT ALL. Even if there's something useful there, its staying there. 4.) Doors do not currently work properly. 5.) Furnaces do not work. Burn all you want, but you get no product, just lost fuel. 6.)
