Anyone else playing this great little sandbox? Have some pictures of my house, dug entirely out of a solid hillside!
(IMG:http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b224/esrz22/Minecraft/1.jpg) The front entrance, along a bridge I built. (IMG:http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b224/esrz22/Minecraft/2.jpg) My front door, with tree-awning and light! (IMG:http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b224/esrz22/Minecraft/3.jpg) Front room, with crafting by a window! (IMG:http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b224/esrz22/Minecraft/4.jpg) Further in, starting to go down. (IMG:http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b224/esrz22/Minecraft/5.jpg) Here you can see my back door and some of my additional tunneling I'm working on. (IMG:http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b224/esrz22/Minecraft/6.jpg) Finally, my back porch. -------------------- |

Here's your context!!!
Been looking at it recently, but haven't actually brought myself to play it yet. Part of me wants a completely offline version to muck around with. Might need to give this a shot. -------------------- |

And this is not a news thread! I'm addicted, and thought it was the sort of thing other 'sparkers may have found!

Sounds almost interesting... but it doesn't seem to be anything but a sandbox... and also it doesn't work on any of my browsers.
Or it works, but I can't do anything but aim and build, no movement. -------------------- What signature?

Built me a house! Then a basement! Then an indoor pool... oh wait... Yeah, flooded my basement and cave network. Then I lined the whole thing with glass and pumped it out, and started digging out around it.

Water doesn't flow in infdev, which I'm using, so flooding's not an issue. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)
I'm currently working on two projects: A giant chamber to grow a tree or two indoors, and my Tree Tower. I currently have five trees stacked on top of each other. -------------------- |

I tried survival this morning... and broke it. But before it broke, I killed a spider!
Edit: Okay, so I scoured minepedia for answers. I know how to rebuild my health, shoot my arrows, and generally survive longer than "oh crap, here they come." Oh, and dynamite ROCKS! This post has been edited by wonko the sane?: Apr 26 2010, 11:27 AM -------------------- |

Behold the Tree Tower! Believe me, working on this thing is INCREDIBLY nervewracking. One slight misstep, and I'm scraping myself off the ground. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)

I guess the benefit of paying for play is the tools... weapons... Neat stuff like torches.
Might need to raid the paypal account for some coin to buy into this. -------------------- |

ARRGGG!
I found a strategy for survival. Find a nice big hill, climb to the top and take it down a level or two to the next out jutted part of the hill, then wall the perimeter off at least three blocks high. You are then free to dig down and build up without being attacked. I had a tower five floors tall (each floor was three bricks tall) and was working on the sixth, and a basement that went down another four levels and then horizontally into the hill. Well, the hugging game started spawning jive in my tower! Some skells killed me while I was running to my own basement to get more rock! -------------------- |

Okay, took some time but I went and bought it. After the time I spent (wasted?) on the classic survival mode, then the time I spent (wasted?) on stealing and playing one version of Infdev or another... I just felt it was worth my while.
On the infinite maps: I tend to make a large, tall as possible water tower (just one tower of bricks straight up, brought down on level from the max and with a spring on top) so I can find the spots where I built something. I got 4 on my current map, and there was two more in the works (one for each entrances I dug) but I got ambushed by a skell and knocked into a lava pit. So now I can't find my deep bunker. Found a ton of red crystal in there though, worked out how to use it. Pretty awesome addition. Can't see how it would be useful right now, but awesome trick. -------------------- |
