Apparently, a city in Kansas has changed it's from Topeka to Google. So Google has now changed it's name to Topeka in honor of the town.

Gosh, is it April 1st or something? This must be some kind of joke. Umm no it was to honor the town that changed its name to Google. Doesn't really count as a April Fool's joke. -------------------- Silent Bob: Adventure, excitement... a Jedi craves not these things.

QUOTE Early last month the mayor of Topeka, Kansas stunned the world by announcing that his city was changing its name to Google. We’ve been wondering ever since how best to honor that moving gesture. Today we are pleased to announce that as of 1AM (Central Daylight Time) April 1st, Google has officially changed our name to Topeka.

We’ve been wondering ever since how best to honor that moving gesture. Today we are pleased to announce that as of 1AM (Central Daylight Time) April 1st, Google has officially changed our name to Topeka. That's the joke. People will log on today and be all, 'wtf!?' Read this: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/dif...mpany-name.html QUOTE Correspondence to both our corporate headquarters and offices around the world should now be addressed to Topeka Inc., but otherwise can be addressed normally. Google employees once known as “Googlers” should now be referred to as either “Topekers” or “Topekans,” depending on the result of a board meeting that’s ongoing at this hour. Whatever the outcome, the conclusion is clear: we aren’t in Google anymore. Our new product names will take some getting used to. For instance, we’ll have to assure users of Topeka News and Topeka Maps that these services will continue to offer news and local information from across the globe. Topeka Talk, similarly, is an instant messaging product, not, say, a folksy midwestern morning show. And Project Virgle, our co-venture with Richard Branson and Virgin to launch the first permanent human colony on Mars, will henceforth be known as Project Vireka. We don’t really know what to tell Oliver Google Kai’s parents, except that, if you ask us, Oliver Topeka Kai would be a charming name for their little boy. As our lawyers remind us, branded product names can achieve such popularity as to risk losing their trademark status (see cellophane, zippers, trampolines, et al). So we hope all of you will do your best to remember our new name’s proper usage: PROTIP: Check out the link at the very end. The 'one shot' link. I find this thread even more amusing than the actual joke. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)

You...don't get humor do you Rodimus? My sense of humor is somewhat dry. This really isnt a joke to me. To me, a good joke, for example on April Fool's was when Kal posted that Hasbro was shuting down the Allspark for copy right infrigments. That was funny to see some of the people's reactions. This? Not so much. -------------------- Silent Bob: Adventure, excitement... a Jedi craves not these things.

WooHoo! #1G4Topeka!
Yes, we changed the name of our town to Google this past month as part of our effort to attract Google's Fiber Experiment to our city. As a nod to our move, Google changed their name for today. It is indeed a joke, but one where both sides are having fun. As a resident, I couldn't be more thrilled and I do think this speaks well for our chances of landing the Fiber Experiment. -------------------- |

But you *do* know it's not 1985, right?

I'm kinda hoping you make the green and black a regular theme option. The purple hurts my eyes after a while, but the white is a bit bright.
I'm a fan of the green and black. -------------------- |

I'm taking it down tonight but will tweak it and add it at some point.
I just don't like multiple themes because everytime there's a version update you have to re-skin them all. |
