Okay guys, as some of you know, I work in advertising. Since I do work in the industry, it means I often get to read some of the various trade publications. Now, often various media companies will buy out a special cover ad, which is an extra cover on top of the normal cover.
Well this week's one for Brandweek/Adweek/Mediaweek is for the Hub, and as you can see, look who is in the upper left section. It's a Bumblebee we have not seen! It's only a partial shot of his upper body, but it something. Now he is taking some heavy movie cues, but there are also differences, such as his face and the shoulders. Okay maybe I should quit blathering about it and just post it. Now since I am at work, this is the best I can do right now, I have a better scan I can put up when I get home. -------------------- |

He looks kinda similar to some of the cybertronian movie Bumblebee designs.
edit: The arm set up he has going on doesn't look very practical. This post has been edited by Silent_Magnus: Mar 8 2010, 09:20 AM -------------------- I may be lying

Hmm, judging by his eyes, Bumblebee is now nocturnal like a Tarsier monkey. If he's representative of the Autobots and the style of the new cartoon and toyline in general, I'll pass, the hybrid movie/traditional style doesn't do much for me.

So you have Bumblebee, a My Little Pony...and a dog. Who's the dog? What does he do? Where's he factor into things? Tell me!
*Ahem* Anyway, Bumblebee looks interesting. While I can't say I'm too excited for him, he does have me excited for other movie characters getting a slightly simplified look. Like Starscream, Ratchet and Ironhide, in particular. -------------------- ![]() |

I'm not a fan... but hopefully it'll work for the tone of the series.

I like it, but then I'm apparently one of the few who likes the movie designs. Seeing them blended with more traditional aesthetics is perfect.
Wonder if this'll be Earth-based, or if we'll be getting more future/alien/Cybertronian alt-modes. -------------------- ![]() |

Interesting! He's certainly very heroically-proportioned for all that he looks a bit cuter and more kid-friendly than the move model. Thanks, Mon!

I wonder if that's even going to be a final design.
Looks concept art-y to me. It begins again... People having different tastes to others... it never ends. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif) More like people judging an enire toyline/show when we've barely seen anything. I'm glad to see what he looks like, but I was really hoping to get away from the movie designs even if they are streamlined like this.
Maybe Bumblebee will be an exception since he's the most popular character in the biggest film of last year. Maybe the rest of the cast will be more traditional style. Hopefully the rest of the cast isn't as based on the movie designs as B is. Randy -------------------- |

... I'm half-and-half on this. I'm gettin g all Movie'd out, but this looks kind of cool, like the lovehcild of Aniamted's design aesthetic and the movie's. I actually saw a fanartist on TFW who made his own version of Blackout, and it kinda looked like this style. I WOULD want more human faces, but... I like this. I guess.

Interesting. I'll have to see more before I can really judge; at the very least; I don't dislike it.

I think it looks fine. If we aren't having more Animated, it makes sense they'd use the movie background and success for their next show.
I'd *prefer* more Animated, but it looks like a nice styling for the new show. -------------------- |

Why do I get the feeling some clueless executive said "so his name is Bumblebee? Bumblebees have wings right? make sure he has wings. We don't want to confuse the kiddies."

This is the universe that the super-G1ey WfC purports to be part of? The inconsistency of that kinda irks me.
Ah crap, this means Ratchet will be all movie-based too, doesn't it? WfC had me looking forward to a decent new Ratchet with a red helmet. This post has been edited by Chip: Mar 8 2010, 09:49 AM -------------------- |

QUOTE Why do I get the feeling some clueless executive said "so his name is Bumblebee? Bumblebees have wings right? make sure he has wings. We don't want to confuse the kiddies." Um, they're movie Bumblebee's door wings just stylized to be more wing-y. I don't see any problem... This post has been edited by NightViper: Mar 8 2010, 09:49 AM -------------------- ![]() |
