When Bumblebee *isn't* a $5 figure his hood does/has stuff. Look at Classics, movie, etc.

When people are spending $50 I think it's fair to expect a little more for their money.

are you just so used to the movie designs that you need more going on? don't get me wrong, i love the movie designs.. but i love the look & feel of this figure. it's very G1.. this IS bumblebee, not the awesome camaro that we got with the movie..

I hate the movie designs and that's a lot of the reason I don't like this guy. The headsculpt is nice though.

If this guy only cost $5 I doubt as many people would be complaining. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif)

oh, i forgot.. that this is the same size and has the same complexity of the G1 figure (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif)

i also didn't realize that if you are creating an homage to a certain figure that it HAS to have more "features" in certain areas for people to like it. it's like saying.. i'm not buying prime or megatron because they're cars.. or.. i'm not buying prime because he's a fire engine.

i mean.. people always complain about the movie designs because of their "complexity" and what not. now here is a figure that is smack in the middle of the movie designs and G1.. and people still don't like it.

what else would you do to the chest... while still being able to keep it looking G1?

he's small.. he has diecast pieces, he's more complex, his head sculpt is great, his transformation looks interesting, his alt mode is a real vehicle, and he is a really great homage to his G1 character.. i don't see what the problem it.

are you just so used to the movie designs that you need more going on? don't get me wrong, i love the movie designs.. but i love the look & feel of this figure. it's very G1.. this IS bumblebee, not the awesome camaro that we got with the movie..

Is it really so much to ask that it not look like he's wearing a bib and an apron over a push-up bra that's barely containing his triple D cups?

On the plus side, the proportions would make for a perfect Glyph figure.

I like the colors, I like the head sculpt, I like the vehicle mode, and honestly I don't mind the chest and legs in robot mode as much as I did in the first few pics...So I'll go ahead and get a Cliffjumper. Hopefully it will look even better in person and/or a little fiddling will de-bulk the chest and make the apron stick out a little less.

The heads, arms, legs and alt-modes are good... but those bodies..... UGHH they look BAD. Hollow, flat, empty, squarees. Just horrible bodies. Cliffjumper is slightly more appealing to me cause the colors seem really nice, but even he can't overcome that bad a design.

I'm with the folks aiting to see the fiction though. Alternity has impressed on that front if no other.

I really want to like this mold, but I can't. The robot mode's chest is just so awful.

QUOTE(racerx @ Nov 26 2009, 10:21 PM) *
Wow...that's a big, flat, featureless chest.

TF fans confuse me sometimes, the chest is close pretty reminiscent to G1 Bee and Jumper. Why all the hate for the chest, I thought G1'ers approve of new things so long as it reflects from the G1 era? The only thing I'm not liking is the flat sheet of metal for a crotch.

I seem to be in the minority here but I love the hug out of these guys! I think they look great, and I love the headsculpts with the fold out horns on both. The normal red probably would have workd better with Cliff overall, but they both still look great! I hope we get many more characters down the road for this line - and I'm glad to finally have these guys in Alternator-esque bodies.

Randy

here here.

man you have GREAT taste in figures lol.

Thanks! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ironhide.gif)

Yeah me too. Hopefully they have a little micro-comic rather than just a text story.

I'm wondering how god-like they are.

i cannot wait for these figures.

Have another look at the original toys. Their chests are curvy, angular and have windows. The Alternity toy's chest really is big, flat and featureless. So yes, by comparison the original toys do have SOO many features.

It looks like Takara hired the guy that designs Roadbots, and put him to work on these two.

If the fiction's particularly over-the-top geek-referency, I might shell out for a Bumblebee. I like Bumblebees and I love tiny yellow cars, but I don't like the look of Alternity toys. But the fiction is a guilty pleasure. If I'm going to own a representative figure from the storyline, it'd probably be a Bumblebee.

I lurv the metallic on cliffjumper, but for the money I'd get a convoy or megatron instead. The hood-chest is really bland.

Yeah this has made me even more excited for Cliffjumper, as the similarity is close to me, but a natural evolution of the character that isn't the kid in a hoodie Classic figure. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) Not that there is anything wrong with that design, I just like the way the Alternity figures look and he seems a good fit and a nice evolution of Cliffjumper.

Yeah, the movie designs suck and no matter how many movie explosions, Megan Fox, Michael Bay humor or mass media movie marketing get thrown my way, I won't be convinced to see it otherwise. That said, these guys aren't much of an improvement besides their head designs which I happen to like a lot.

Hey Randy, when you get your Cliffjumper, could you snap a pic of him and his Classics version together to see if their head sizes are comparable? And if possible, see what kind of joint holds the head and it'll fit on the Classics version? I want to do a conversion.

Hasbro releasing redecos of Skids & Rumble is in no way going to hinder or prevent Takara from releasing these.

That's... kinda the problem I'm having. He's so much bigger than a G1, and so much more complex, but the best they can do is just slap a third of the alt mode on his front? It looks pretty ungainly.

Actually, the fact that the robot basically unfolds from inside him and the bulk of the car wraps around him reminds me uncomfortably of HA Sideswipe, and I recall quite a bit of complaining about him.

In wearing most of the car like a shirt, there's also shades of "humans dressed like robots" going on that I'm not too fond of.
