So, would you pay club prices to get a remold of Universe Ultra Silverbolt as Thunderwing?

I really, really dislike that mold. Buying it once is enough.

I've avoided every release of that mold so far, and an expensive exclusive wouldn't be any more appealing.

I like the simplicity and blockiness of that mold, but, considering I have three of 'em...might be a stretch. Anyway, I don't really feel that he works so great as Thunderwing, probably because I personally associate that character more with the shell than the inner robot. Heck, if you went with the US comics alone, I don't think there was an indication that he even *was* a Pretender but just a robot/jet dude with an ornate design (I know that the inner robot appeared in the UK comics.).

While I rather like the mold as Silverbolt himself, he's so, well, Silverbolt-y looking that every redeco of him I've seen just looks like Silverbolt after the rest of the Aerialbots played a paint prank on him. So... no. Even the new head in the prose story art doesn't help much.

He tells Bumblebee that he is a pretender like him but that he knows whatever damage is done to the shell is felt by the owner.
It was the VsQs issue.

Darkwind looks very much like G1 Darkwing. Its easy to see him as a seperate character from Silverbolt and not just Silverbolt in Decepticon colors.

As for the topic. No but then I can't afford any exclusive or Botcon figure. I do have Silverbolt and Darkwind though so thats enough for me. I would however wouldn't mind seeing a SG Thunderwing toy being produced because the guy really needs a new toy. Bludgeon and Nightbeat have been given new toys in recent time so so should Thunderwing.

He calls himself a Pretender, but we don't see his inner robot in the US issues.

No. The toy is pretty bleh, and at Club prices it would not be worth it at all.

I quite like the design in the artwork, but I don't feel the need to own a toy of it. I'm sick of the mold at this point.

I do find it .... interesting that not only is SG Thunderwing in "real" Thunderwing colors, but that he also has red eyes.

Very interesting.

...hmm, are there SG Decepticons other than him and Heatwave that have red eyes? Several have yellow ones, and Whisper has orange ones in his profile pic, but...

Some SG characters do have their original counterparts colors. Megatron, Demolishor, Jazz, Alpha Trion...

Would it be an honest SG variation on a character thought to have a Pretender who is the design of his G1 shell instead of changing color? For instance could SG Gunrunner be a red armored car?

Yeah, Darkwind could only get closer looking to Darkwing if they'd given him a visor. I still think he's been the best use of the mold. Skyfall, however does look like "Silverbolt in Decepticon colors" as I really can't see him as Skyjack in anyway, as he feels too diffrent espically compared to Fearswoop, who does a much better job of feeling like his Cyberjet counterpart.

Some fan project company needs to make an add on for Darkwind. Maybe G1 style weapons, a Powermaster that fits on the chest, and a visor.... maybe a simple link to make him dock with Dreadwind easily.

Yeah, but even though SG Megatron has G1 Megatronish body colors, he still has "heroic" blue eyes.

Demolisher is based on an existing toy.

SG Jazz has blue eyes instead of red as well, because he's clearly supposed to also work as a Classics Jazz if you really want.

So, uh. That last example may be important.

I take it you mean as a Thunderwing toy released that could fit info the Classics or SG toy line?
Since we already have duel purposed club toys that's a possibility. (Airazor, Astrotrain, etc). Only way to do it better would be to put 2 tech specs in the box, one for each purpose. I'd said a long while back to do this with a SG Wheeljack. Make it both SG Wheeljack AND Classic Slicer.

If they're going to do Thunderwing, I'd either like to see a dedicated Universe mold based on Stormbringer, or, as with Bludgeon, a movie-style approximation.

The Silverbolt mold is ok, but I've not been fond enough of it to buy either of the two Decepticon repaints. And anyway, it doesn't really look spacecraft-like enough to be Thunderwing.

Yes. I'm saying that SG Thunderwing has G1 colors and evil red eyes for the purpose of FP being able to sell him both as a Classics Thunderwing and SG Thunderwing.
