i've always wanted to draw these guys after seeing jackpots, that spectackle guy, draw his piece. i just love the way his stuff consistently carry a narrative. and i always thought it was really cool how furman spoofed genres in the matrix quest storyline. reading it as a kid i was just, yay robots, but now i pick up on the reference and it just brings a smile to my face.

Awesome! The grayscale might look good sepia toned too to give it some extra vintage feel. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)

I actually did try effects, diffuse glow for instance to create diffuse lighting, but I decided against them. I Try to keep my stuff effects free and natural looking when I color them with brushes (as opposed to fills). I feel my stuff look more at ease that way, like its not trying to hard. I always find myself overdoing it when I try to render a drawing too much.

Not to mention that it fits the linework. You usually have very light, airy lines, no spot blacks and it's a little sketchy. Overdoing the toning or coloring wouldn't suit something like that.
However, I don't know what program you use but I think you could try some other brush sometimes. To give it more of a natural feeling of being painted. I feel the brush you used here is a little too hard around the edges so the surfaces distract from the unity of the image. Either way I like it a lot. It's well composed and reminds me of oldschool book illustrations. -------------------- |

I use PS. I just use basic brushes. Ive tried some ifvthe shaped brushes but they're not to my liking. Ive seen some ppl use custom brushes to emulate natural brush so Im currently looking into it. Ideally I want water colour like results.
I've dabbled with painter but I can't justify keeping it on my pc because i wouldn't use it much outside art, ive already got stuff like autocad, 3ds max and illustrator all of which I regularly use in my line of work. -------------------- |

Being completely unfamiliar with the story...
Who's the dame in the doorway? -------------------- Exos Integro, Sugiliato Curatio, Y Femellas Amo Cicatrix. There's this amazing series of tubes that connects the world together. I think it's called the Between-fishcatcher. When the Latin starts rhyming, you know the jive has seriously hit the fan. AMERICANS...ARE...PUSSIES Canadians are tough. |

the chick is called fatale (duh) from when the the trio was looking for the missing matrix on this noir kinda world with gangsters. The chick approached the trio because she's looking for this Maltese falcon type dealie which the trio thought might be related to the matrix.

I like the use of the blinds to cast shadows - very film noir!
