I'd have much rather tossed the relatively useless mech alive chest gimmick and retained Prime's guns. I can live without moving fingers, and the folding box thingy I barely even notice. But guns are kind of a big deal.

Uh....what guns? This mold was never planned to incorporate guns, save for the remolded tanks on the Japanese Buster version.

Hasbro has stated that the original intention for the mold was to give it Buster's fold-out guns. But they were priced out early on.

Nice so far, makes me glad I was firm on not buying the ROTF voyager mold. Though not quite as firm on having a small cadre of missile fisted first movie seekers everywhere.

Yes, I have various misslefist Voyagers. But I, too, am glad I decided to hold off on the ROTF version. (well, that and the fact that I hate the legs, and the non-folding claws that stick out of the jet, and the neutered gun gimmick.)

MISSLEFIST.... that's an awesome name for a hardcore band! Just remember, I called dibs!

Wow. I love the Voyager toy, and this just takes everything the Voyager has and makes it ... well, bigger, but also more intricate and detailed, and with smoother proportions. I really love the shoulder motion, there. I might have to pick this up. It's very pretty.

Hoping for "concrete" and tattoos again, but it's not a necessity. I just think the idea of an F-22 with tribal tats is simply one of the best things the movies brought to the franchise.

I wonder how much of this prototype's features will make it to the final toy, considering what Prime lost.

I would think, considering how long after the Wave 1 ROTF toys (like Leader Prime and Voy. Starscream, who both lost features) Leader Starscream is being developed, the Hasbro/Tak engineers would understand what they can afford to produce now. Meaning, I don't think they'd have pushed it at Botcon they way they did, promoting features like the pop-out arm guns. And anyway, those are the kind of features that get dropped from a voyager class mold, not a leader class mold.

We don't really have any way of knowing how old or new the prototype in this photo is. It could very well have begun development around the same time as the other Leaders for all we know.

This prototype is at least six months old. We saw photos of it at BotCon.

Smitty is commenting on how the wiki box synched with the topic at hand, while nighthawk is commenting on the color scheme in Smitty's screen cap. Both are in the right thread.

Oh, and Decepticon Purple is easily the best skin.

I use Classic Gears due to viewing this page at work from time to time, it doesn't look like I'm goofing off.

Courtesy of yizhi and S250 at TFW, here's a shot of Starscream's back packaging, showing his jet mode and weapon functions, as well as the prototype painted deco.

This toy looks glorious.

Also, if we've got packaging sample already, it's probably coming out much earlier than Q3 2010.

I was kinda hoping for a bit more from the vehicle mode, but then again, the Voyager was already pretty good as is. The lanbding gear is nice though.

I also like that they bothered to make the missiles look better than the norm as well.

I'm blown away by how that arm converts into the missile launcher. I cannot figure out how it works by looking at it. Jeez.
