He has Starscream's face (not Takara's Skywarp face).

only took Hasbro what? a year or 2 was it? nah sorry not interested, i already got the Takara one upon release so considering how late this item is and the fact its at FULL price for a figure which at least 1 year old...sorry Hasbro i dont think so
If this were Masterpiece Grimlock then yes i would be more than happy but the fact it takes Hasbro SOOOOOOOOOO long to release MP figures is just a joke

Of course its going to be full price. Why would we expect Hasbro to do otherwise?

well considering the toy is roughly 2 years old its just hasbro is lazy and has only just released it i would kinda expect better from Hasbro than to 'give fans the finger' for a 2ish year old toy Takara released AGES ago.

That being said the bastards are STILL pushing MP Prime at full price in TRU and he doesnt even come with a cardboard trailer or fancy box ffs!

The release date of the toy wouldn't affect the price it's sold at. Hasbro has to sell things at the prices that the market, and retailers, dictate are feasible and acceptable, regardless of whether Takara released them already. And it's precisely because Hasbro has to sell them for so much (And wants to, I should add, they are a business), that they only release one every couple of years.

What fans? The UK is a desolate wasteland in terms of boys toys. The fact they released what amounts to a £60 collectors item at all is remarkable. The fact it's £60 is also why I wouldn't touch this with a ten-foot pole.

It seems odd, truth be told. The price puts it out of general kid reach, and even then, there's plenty of frankly better toys for equal or less money when it comes to buying birthday presents. Masterpiece Prime warmed the shelves like nobodies business, and I only saw that shift a long time ago when they slashed the prices. Any collector who wanted this would have bought the Japanese or American release a while ago when the exchange rate was favourable, or even just bought it a while ago.

So my question is this, who the hell is this aimed at in the UK?

While Takara's MP Skywarp may be old this is the first release of the Hasbro version so I don't get why one shouldn't pay full price for him. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-depth.gif)

Oh, you'd be surprised! I know a kid who got multiple presents worth £100+ each every Christmas. Some kids are very spoilt. Admittedly not all of them, but if the items are stocked in small enough quantities, even in a recession I'd imagine they would sell out. Besdies, with the residual hype of the second film, if these don't sell now, they never will.

I welcome Argos stocking these, even if they are overpriced. The much Transformers stock we get in UK retailers, the better, really, even if you or I personally aren't interested in this specific item.

Whoo!

£45 Masterpiece Skywarp will be mine on Saturday!

There's currently 20% off and you can reserve for pick up from your local store (well at least I could).

Apparently you also have to order before the 20th to get the discounted price.

The face thing is disappointing but laughably predictable. I'm sure they'll make up some baloney reason for this oversight but it seems they can't really do a perfect Masterpiece figure. Happy 25th, TF!

BTW, to anyone that doesn't own a Grimlock, don't wait for Hasbro if you can afford him. I was fiddling with him again the other day and he's just magnificent in every sense of the word. I had to put him back out on display. I can't really think of any realistic ways he could've been much better and that is saying something considering I love being critical.

God only knows what Hasbro will do to him anyway, be it pastel paint, "battle damage," "dirt," neutured claws and flat teeth, or even giving him Alternator Grimlock's headsculpt. If they ever even release him in the first place.

So treat yourself to something special for the 25th Anniversary! Put him on your Christmas list. Do whatever you need to. You will not regret it.

From my understanding it wasn't an oversight, but the fact that given Skywarp's character the angry snarl face did not fit his personality while the smirk did.

Shh....don't tell him. If you do, he'll have to find something new to complain about.

And there we go, I knew there would be a "reason" given for what is likely an embarassing oversight (see blue face Ironhide). Sure, it fits Skywarp perfectly, that is why it was created for Starscream. And of course TakaraTomy created a new head because they're idiots who love to waste money.

At least you can turn the head around but I'd still like the more distinctive faces, especialy considering they already exist. He has yellow eyes too though doesn't he? Bleh. I probably won't bother at this point.

His eyes and wing stripes are clearly meant to evoke the original figure. I'm thinking Hasbro did not want to use the snarl face, and as a result they had to use the normal Starscream face too (not being all that different). In all honesty I would have preferred the Starscream smirk face and the Skywarp normal face, but that's probably not a viable option as they would likely have two halves to two different faces unused.

The US should be getting it soon, but still after the UK & Canada.
