Don't know if want.
On the one hand, I really like having add-on junk. On the other hand, I only bought Classics I guess I'll have to see how the final figure looks, really. -------------------- Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over.

You'll have plenty of time to decide. I don't think the kit's due out until November/December-ish, and by then, we'll have a ton of full-colour pics to gauge opinions with.

I must have this. I've been waiting for the Protector to come out. I hope his trailer turns into his battle-sled/base thing, because it looks like there are a lot of pieces left over from the trailer, according to the concept art, after you make Rodimus. Head, arms, legs, chest, and crotch piece these pieces don't look like they make up that entire trailer/back end. Regardless I am hyped, and I want to know what's going on with the Defender (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-silverbolt.gif)

Oh, I'm definitely expecting a big weapons platform or something for him. The actual armor seems to account for very little of his mass. The chest/codpiece is only the centremost part of the camper overhang, and the arms seem to come from a small portion at the top of the smokestacks. The boots are the rear fender and a small chunk of the surrounding area. That leaves a huge block of unaccounted parts.

Looks like fun, though. You're probably right, y'know - they'll mimic the G1 toy robot mode as much as possible, so ... slightly ganglier robot + a cannon on a roving dinner plate.
In any case, I look forward to seeing color images. I'm intrigued. I didn't get Magnus, so I had no interest in City Commander, but Hot Rod/Rodimus fill a certain spot in my childhood, so ... I might consider this. |

I just realized, this might make Rodimus Prime as tall as Classics Prime, after this upgrade. I don't care, I'll take Toolsheddimus Prime.

The render and the prototype picture aren't the same. They don't both do the same thing with the exhaust pipes on the trailer...I like the render better.

Not feeling it, based on this image. Gonna wait till there's a physical prototype. There's a prototype. Click on the image in the link to see it.Didn't notice it before. Still, on a sports car, the giant box looks very tacked on, it doesn't at all match the style of the base toy. So, still not feeling it. They probably should have angled the front-top of the trailer down so it was more wedge-shaped like the car. |

I agree with TMM. The proto looks too much like a sportscar backed into a toolshed. Maybe the finished product will look more cohesive. :/ I think that's because the trailer is unpainted plastic. The illusion should work much better once the colors match, and if City Commander is any indication, the colors *will* match. Heinkei Rodimus and Classics Rodimus are the same base color, so it shouldn't matter which you plug into the armor. This is still on my buy list. |

I hope the DIA Commander ordeal doesn't prevent TFcon for seeing about getting a Protector exclusive armor for next year's TFCon. Maybe a Crystal release.

I'm not sure a crystal Rodimus would be such a great idea. Given the inherent fragility of translucent plastic, I'm not sure if Fansproject has quite the engineering know-how to compensate for that.

A Shadow Protector would be nice though, if they could somehow make it compatible with both SG Rodimus and Wildrider...

Universe/Classics Nemesis Prime was very widely available even though it was a convention exclusive, due to Hasbro having made them in plentiful numbers and sold the extras online. SG Rodimus is much harder to get your hands on due to his limited run, as is Gentei Wildrider.-------------------- ![]() |

Yeah, that's why I said it would have to fit with both of them. That's pretty much the only way they'd even consider it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)

What was the production run for BotCon Rodimus and Henkei Wildrider? 1,500 BotCon sets? (boxed + bagged) Hrm, that's still a huge chunk of them. And Canadians are more likely to have the BotCon one than the Gentei one. |

This has the potential to look really neat. But then again I had a little troulbe justifying City Commander to myself, and Magnus is one of my all time favorite characters. Hot Rod/Rodimus's cool, but I don't know if he matters enough to me to actually seriously consider this.
