Hasbro's answers for Round 3 of the Q&A have rolled in!
1) How many Human Alliance figures are scheduled for the Revenge of the Fallen toy line? And when you decide to end the Revenge of the Fallen toy line, is there any chance that this fan-popular sub-line will continue? There are still plenty of human and not-so human characters that could use toys. Like Daniel with Arcee, Spike with Hot Rod, or Una and Chak with Transmetal Cheetor! QUOTE 1) Currently, we have announced five figures for the Human Alliance line, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Autobot Skids, Barricade and Mudflap. Outside of these announced figures, we are already investigating other characters and pairings that would make sense for the line. As a whole, humans have always played an important part within the Transformers fantasy, especially in the two live action films. With that in mind, we have tried to bring those relationships to life in toy form. We are eager to see what the reaction to the line will be and will base our future decisions on where this line goes based on these results. 2) After Perceptor and the Insecticons, how many other reissues are planned? Or if there are currently no plans for more reissues, but it's something that you'd like to look into in the future, which figures would you personally like to see reissued in the US market? QUOTE 2) Currently, there are no plans to release any other reissues at this time. However, we would always strongly consider any re-issues that Takara has previously done. 3) "Revenge of the Fallen" has brought with it a more adult-aimed Transformers, both in terms of toy complexity and the adult humor sprinkled generously throughout the movie. What will this mean for any future toys and fiction--including comics, toy bios and cartoons-- that Hasbro may have planned for the movie continuity? Would a movie continuity cartoon revert back to the more child friendly stories as we've seen with the past few years, or would it keep a flavoring of the adult themes that Michael Bay brought to the films? -------------------- |

I take "original 13" to mean they were the first thirteen Transformers *ever* created in the prime Universe (whatever that is) before it started splitting into a multiverse. The TFWIKI answer even says the Fallen helped shape the multiverse when he was young. Course I fully admit I could be wrong or misunderstanding quantum mechanics. Well, admittedly I was thinking of it more from a storytelling perspective. Namely, if the 13 aren't really the 13 in a given universe, that makes their status as singularities pointless because they've been replaced/have no purpose in that continuity. Same with a conversation on another board about Primus and Unicron, where it was pointed out that folks like Furman and the Animated guys made it clear they wanted to not use them and have different origins for the TFs. So one person said "Well, they could still exist, just not show up at all". And I'm like, "OK, what's the point of Primus and Unicron technically existing if they have nothing to do with the TFs?" Basically, the multiversal singularity is an original concept, and I have to applaud that fine bit of BSing in that answer, but it all means pretty much nothing outside of the FunPub stories. Edit: Not to mention that the idea of The Fallen helping create the universe or anything else god-like makes the TFs way, way too important as a species. Primus may be the creator of the TFs, and the 13 may be guardians of various things for the TFs alone, but that's it. Having any of them be a god or guardian for the multiverse in general is pretty doofy. This post has been edited by Jeysie: Aug 12 2009, 06:08 AM |

Having any of them be a god or guardian for the multiverse in general is pretty doofy. The "way too important as a species" bridge has long since been crossed. The Transformers were created by a god to defend existence from another god who wants to destroy it. Cybertron has been declared the "stable axis of the multiverse." And I seriously doubt that the Original 13 are intended to just be the guardians of their various things for the Transformers alone. -------------------- ![]() |
