You know, I've got to say, I can't remember the last time the fandom had such universally positive things to say about a new TF-related product. The fact that this also comes from a fan is just even better!

I blogged a few thoughts about picking up my copy at the Burbank signing on Saturday here.

So he does. At least two degrees of separation, then. A bit more explanation might have been nice....

Ahahahaha, classic! The page for "Return of the Headmaster" is done as an entry from Sentinel Prime's private journal, and all the Cybertronix on it translates into Tick quotes! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)

You can get it for less than $15 on Amazon, which is now shipping them out and getting more in just a couple of days.

People who don't have the book yet, shouldn't get the impression that we only love it for the references. We love it for being a thorough and respectful and beyond-super-detailed index of the entire Animated universe and backstory. The references are fun because readers have to do a little work on their own to decipher them. It's like that kid in "Christmas Story" with his Li'l Orphan Annie decoder ring, except this time actually worthwhile.

Oh my God, dude, I would NOT be surprised if the last Cybertronix message told me to drink my Ovaltine.

I haven't really watched many episodes of Transformers Animated but love coffee table books and reference books even more so I've been excited to get this since I read about it's existence last year. Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait for a while because Chapters has been really late with getting their shipments in lately of stuff. They still don't have any in store copies of Star Wars The Essential Atlas so I have no idea how long i'm going to have to wait to get this book...probably another couple of months which is frustrating to no end.

This... is quite possibly the best fan guide that I've ever read. I have spent two days going through it page by page, and I cannot wait to get back to the beginning and do it again. Every single page has some new fact, a reference, a picture, SOMETHING that makes me happy I bought the book. Every damn page.

I got about five pages in before I began to wonder if Jim and Bill didn't figure out a way to compress Derrick's office into book form. And the various references... they are geeks and proud of it. This is not just a Transformers guide--it is a testament to pop culture. Even better, it's well-written. The bios actually FEEL like the characters wrote them. I started a fun little game with myself: read the first two sentences, guess the character. I was right every time, because these guys are just that good at capturing the personalities. I could literally hear them saying it as I read.

To anyone on the fence (all three of you at this point), this is one fantastic book that is well worth the cover price. If the show was a love letter to the fans, this book is an offer to elope with them. I eagerly await a volume two. Heck, I look forward to anything these guys put together in the future. Seriously, they can put up a preorder for a Unicron Trilogy guide and test me--if it's even HALF as well-done, it would STILL be good.

If anyone spots a Centurions reference, point it out. I'm sure there's one in here somewhere... everything else is.

QUOTE(The Walky @ Aug 22 2009, 08:26 PM) *
(And, yeah, you should know anyway that there were no Predacons in Animated continuity, despite the title of one episode.)

Right. They never used the word "Predacons" in the episode itself, which is where it matters.

Since the airing of that episode, I've argued that point with more people than I care to admit. It was a nod, a wink, maybe even a little fan-grope, but nothing more. The episode titles are not part of the in-show continuity.
