For those who don't know about this crazy toy, read it up here on the Transformers Wiki. Basically, he was available via the Chevy online store last year, with an ultra-hefty fee for non-European buyers, and before that, he might have been available as a promo piece in China.

Now he's being offered as a contest prize in Canada.

Hey, GM's hurting for cash, right? If they've still got Swerve's lying around, they could make quite a bit by actually selling them to Americans....

^^^ Man, that would be awesome. Wishful thinking, probably...although if anyone COULD do it, I'd definitely be down for one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)

Indeed.

Damnit, I want one of these so bad, but I'm not paying $200+ on Ebay. I mean, I have a 2007 Aveo sedan, just in orange instead of red. I'd love to have my car as a Transformer.

Come on GM, sell these things Stateside!

The poster on the other board mentioned Swerve for sale at Chevy's website, is this the case?

Unless I'm misreading him, SoundwaveCA on the 2005boards says he was told by one of the contest staff that they will only be giving out Swerves until Sunday. That would certainly be in keeping with the time window for Swerve the last time around.

For those who miss out again, don't worry. You'll probably get another opportunity in July 2011, when to celebrate the release of Transformers 3, he'll be available for another 2 days at the GM dealership in Sri Lanka.

Uh, if anyone in Toronto is up for it, let me know what you'd want for him. Seriously.

I can't even find an online store like the European Chevy site had.

Uhg.
This is turning... into something much more difficult than I thought. I have a friend in Toronto and I CAN'T REACH HIM. I really hope he gets my email and... somehow manages to pull this off. somehow... I hate being teased by possibilities. It feels like I should have control because it's so close, but I'm utterly powerless.
There's just... no way that most people who learn about this are going to be able to get these. How strange to have these just pop up out of nowhere unannounced in one location.

Pity they couldn't use the sequel clout to fit him into the Revenge of the Fallen line on a widespread basis, he would have been a good fit since he's a licensed car and they're working closely with GM.

Hmm, Mississauga isn't exactly "Toronto," really... it's enough of a difference that I'm not confident in being able to make it, anyway. :\

Yeah.

My only way to get out there is via GO train, which doesn't appear to run on weekends. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-screamer.gif)
