Since theres no proper discussion topic that I can see for those of us that have seen it, I may as well make one myself.

HIGHLIGHT to view:
I enjoyed most of it. I do think the end battle scene went on for too long where it really turned into a explosion fest. I also didn't believe for a moment that Sam had died.

I am glad that they put more Transformers in it this time other than a small cast like in the previous movie. But I have to say that several of them were just there for the sake of being there; many didn't really do much in terms of the storyline other than to show off a brief but flashy action scene, especially at the beginning.

Some random comments: The Autobot twins aren't quite as bad as I thought they would be but the movie wouldn't have lost anything if they hadn't been in it. Bumblebee was okay and thankfully they didn't overplay his radio communication this time. Jetfire was quite hilarious. Easily the best Transformer in the movie just for his attitude although even he wasn't immune to fart jokes and swearing for comical effect instead of being written decently. I was surprised to see him die - I thought he would have combined with Optimus in the traditional way with him becoming sentient armor for him but no, Prime wore Jetfire's remains as armor and then discarded them once he was done with them. I didn't even see Optimus Prime show any emotion or much awareness of Jetfire's existence. Jolt also made a very brief cameo - I almost missed him; he was a blue robot who helped pull Jetfire's remains towards Optimus Prime. It was only because he was blue that I saw him and thought "hey, that was Jolt!" Optimus Prime had a cool line - "I stand, you fall" or something very close to that after defeating someone, I forget who. Mountain Dew product placement strikes again! And Soundwave's voice was awesome. Not quite G1 Soundwave but still recognisably Welker.

So yeah, it was better than the first movie but still not a great movie. Bay would have done better had he concentrated on giving the Transformers more characterisation than on making things explode. There was also the cliche hero and heroine running away from an explosion in slow motion scene.

Good fun, not going to convert the haters, but if you liked the first, you'll love it. Best use of the word 'bollocks' in a Hollywood film!

Saw it loved it. Damn good movie and lots of Decepticon characterisation.

Pros (loads)
HIGHLIGHT to view:

Lots of characters
Matrix!
Devastator and the constructicons actually being 2 different teams. Didn't see that one coming Mr. Bay, well done.
The twins - funny, well used.
Wheelie
The forest fight scene was intense
....BONECRUSHER HATES BEING IN THIS MOVIE!
Sideswipe (and yes his robot mode is in it for a lot longer than just the Shanghai scene. He's an awesome cocky robot).
Very fast paced.
The scene in Egypt with Sam and his father almost had me in tears.
Lots of funny jokes.
SOundwave and Welker are awesome.
Ravage.
The fight scene between Bumblebee and rampage was brilliant
Jetfire was funny and great.

Cons (Unfortunately, me my wife and my best friend have been sitting here nit picking this film for the last hour, there are a few things to bitch about).

HIGHLIGHT to view:

Alice as a pretender - no point, no explanation and just felt wrong (plus gratuitous panty shot was off).
The Maguffin rail gun that Simmons got to fire with no autherisation to take down Devastator.
Also Mudflap fighting his way out of Devs mouth. His death actually shocked me, I wish it'd stayed.
Bumblebee was criminally underused.
Too many faceless robots (jolt, Arcee twins, rachet, constructicons, side ways, Demolisher, devastator, the doctor) all could have benefitted from more screen time.
BONECRUSHER HATES NOT BEING IN MOVIE FOR MORE THAN 2 SCENES.
The fallen was actually a weak character who weakened Megatron in my opinion. The film could have removed him entirely and just focused on Megatron's hunt for the Matrix and been better for it.
Confused plot until half way through then it got it straight.

Overall 8/10. Going to see it again on Sunday.

On a side note: why is this the pre-release reaction thread? It's not pre-release over here, it's out and we're discussing it, I thought the 'spark still considered itself to be a community, which means UKers get to post the same too (I know this seems over the top but the title bugged me).

That's nothin. Watch the video of the kitchen bots from the front page. One of those guys has a penis gun that he jerks off to shoot.

HIGHLIGHT to view:
I really liked this movie. Still plenty funny, and the action was longer, clearer, and better than the first film.

Optimus making Megatron shoot himself in the face during the end fight is my favorite fekkin' thing, especially with the Starscream interaction afterwards. Then again, the spark crush was cool too."
Also Wheelie's "Who's your little Autobot?" is fantastic.

Oh, one thing that bugged me, but which wasn't the fault of the film itself - the level of discrepancy in the Fallen's backstory between the movie and comic is *mind-boggling*. I mean, I don't even really get how "Defiance" can have HAPPENED, now.

Well, more like, you see someone who LOOKS like him. He's not referred to by name, he's never shown being brought back to life, and much like the appearance of the helicopter who is identical to Blackout and not referred to by name (but has been called Grindor by other media), I doubt it's actually HIM. He wouldn't be the only "generic" in that battle sequence, after all - thing's lousy with 'em.

Grey DeLisle is a great choice. Absolutely stunning as Azula from Avatar.

He's not sealed in a freaking sarcophagus!! He's just sitting in the Nemesis on Mars! So how can Defiance - in which the Transformers unearth the sarcophagus containing him, setting everything in motion - happen?!

I am sure some fan will attempt to tie the two different back stories together somehow - we always do.
