Interesting. Less than .4 miles from the Pasadena Convention Center, or even closer to whatever ballrooms the hotel might have.

They're actually connected via a walkway, if I remember right from BotCon 2004 (oddly enough, I haven't been in the Sheraton since, despite being just a few blocks away every day!).

UPDATE: FP just sent out a new update, explicitly mentioning the Convention Center. For those who are wondering why they call it "new," the whole thing's been upgraded and added to over the past year, set for a "Grand Opening" this spring. It should be quite different than BotCon 2004 folks remember.

Booked! It'll be expensive not sharing a room this year...

Done! The rate is actually pretty reasonable, as hotels go.

Well, I don't see the reason why you have to stay on the same hotel. I'll just find the closest Comfort Inn or Mainstay and spend my vacation there (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)

I booked it. 189 for the 27th and 28th, 139 for the 29th and 30th. Ouch.

Anyone know if it's a good idea to get their the day before the first con day? Or should I book it on the 28th instead?

Bear in mind, I'd be flying from Long Island.

It was cheap for me. I'm only staying at the Hotel one night. My wife doesn't want me being gone too long.

Friday at 5am-fly to CA. Arrive at 11am. Pick up rental car. Drive to hotel/check in.

One night at the hotel (150 after taxes)

Check out Saturday. Spend the day at the con, the night at the mall.

Fly back to NY at 1 in the AM (Nullifying the need for another night at the hotel. The only other reasonable flights were 6am on Sun, so it's not like I'd be at the hotel long enough to justify another night's fees.)

Between a rental car (mustang or monte carlo), the hotel, the plane tickets, and the admission (with boxed set)----it should all be under a grand, leaving the other grand for spending (my wife is letting me keep 2k out of our tax return).

What?!?! Four hours?

People figured it out about 30 seconds after the location was announced. We've been booking rooms for a week. The email from Brian said they were already lining up the second block of rooms at another hotel already.

Are you saying that people were booking rooms *from the Sheraton Botcon block* before the hotel was announced?

Well, people could have made reservations by phone, and just mention the convention by name -- the helpful folks at registration would have likely given them the discounted rate.

Yes. I called up, said I was staying from May 28th to May 31st, and wanted the BotCon/Transformers Club rate.

After taxes I'm paying 150 a night (though I only reserved a room for one night, so I'm not making a big impact on availability).
