But so far all the toys out on shelves are characters that have already been on the show, so that doesn't really apply in this instance. ...if you've seen all the episodes. We're talking kids here, with their soccer practice and something-cooler-on-the-other-channel-sometimes, not dedicated adults with Tivo. And even so, it helps to have a reminder when you're at the store who's who, or for a parent to be able to make a decision for their child on their own when it's a surprise gift. -------------------- --David Shortpacked!: Toys are serious business The Transformers Wiki: Because too many links is never enough. That said, and I guess this is a bit of a spoiler, we will not (at this time) be doing any Tech Specs for the mainline guys. This is more of an opportunity to flesh out many of the characters who are going to appear as cameo's/guest appearances... That's cool, characters like Optimus have probably had a half dozen bios by now. Why do they need more? -------------------- I may be lying

Is Oil Slick a world-class pegwarmer in anyone else's area? I think he's awesome, and he makes a great Dreadnok bike (I had 25th Zartan on him within minutes of getting him home.), but until recently, he was found in abundance, whereas the other figures were pretty scarce. Now, it's getting pretty easy to find anyone through the Soundwave/Jazz/Slick/Snarl wave...me wannnnt Swoooooop...and clear the pegs, losers, Sentinel Prime needs to come out here, but there still tend to be more Oil Slicks than others.
Possibly unfounded speculation, but could this have anything to do with his not being a show character? Maybe less media exposure=harder sell for kids who'd say "I want the one from the TV!"? I say 'speculation' because to be honest, I'm not sure how kids tend to decide or even if there is a trend like "Show characters". When I was a kid, I was big into G1, but never saw more than the first season of the cartoon on video, the movie, and a few third season episodes, since I didn't always like to get up early, so I just grabbed guys based on how cool they looked. But I don't know how "normal" I ever was. This post has been edited by Moroboshi Ataru: Nov 25 2008, 06:44 PM |

Around here, Oilslick's numbers about the same as the other wave 3 guys. If not a little lower.

Are they not airing repeats? Hey, when we were kids we watched it every time it was on. (I was a kid, so I know what kids want!) I wonder if they ever do surveys to find out if people utilize the stuff on the packaging... or if it's just focus groups. Is Oil Slick a world-class pegwarmer in anyone else's area? I normally don't really read the stuff on the package till after I get home.
Although these day I know what's on the back before I see the toy in stores. This post has been edited by Silent_Magnus: Nov 26 2008, 09:15 AM -------------------- I may be lying

Same here. Tech specs and bios were what gave us the character and abilities of the figures we were buying. Nowadays, especially in the UK, because of multi-lingual packaging, we barely even get a sentence for the characters profile, and not tech spec at all. Listen up Hasbro, bring back the tech spec bios, PLEASE! I thought the bios just gave you yet another continuity with the possibility for inconsistencies with the cartoon, the same as the comic book. :> I mean, really? The bios are the only things that gave us character and abilities? Not the cartoon (or comic book)? Bios are good for TF sublines that don't have major fiction supporting it, like Universe, Alternators, and Titaniums. (sorry. Comic books are big, but not anywhere near as big as a TV series or movie) To me, the toyline backs up the fiction and the fiction backs up the toyline. Thats how it "should" be. -------------------- ![]() |

Yeah, sure, if anyone with a killswitch thinks I go too far, they'll doubtlessly use it.
RODIMUS PRIME - CAVALIER On the way "to becoming Magnus." IRONHIDE - SECURITY Good-natured countrybot. (already fully previewed at the club site, I know) RED ALERT - FIELD MEDIC Her design takes some cues from her Armada namesake, esp. her left-hand module. HOT SHOT - PYROTECHNICS Armada look, Energon colors works well. Speedy but inexperienced. BRAWN - DEMOLITIONS Smaller'n 'Bee, stronger'n Bulky. STRIKA - GENERAL OF DESTRUCTION Pretty much the BM version in new colors. ...and LUGNUT's consort. O.O CYCLONUS - SABOTEUR ...sounds a little like Dead End in the body of ol' rabbitears. BLACKOUT - SHOCK AND AWE Gigantic living legend. A number of Omega Sentinels aren't alive to spread his tale... (...do they talk in THIS universe, who knows...) SPITTOR - WASTE DISPOSAL Walking trashpile. Eats you or turns you into a loogiemissile. OIL SLICK - CHEMICAL WARFARE ...ooch. Created/uses weaponized Cosmic Rust. (Also, did we know this already, or no, if we did, I missed it--the club combiner core unit is named HEATWAVE, and a mockup image hits the club site 01 December.) (Oh, and if it helps you any further, Silent Magnus, the Master Collector issue is marked as having been mailed on/before 25 November.) Ooh, so two previous characters are in the teams.
Ironhide and Oil Slick. Thank you for the information. Can't wait till I get my copy. edit: I wonder if those are the same functions as Optimus's crew. This post has been edited by Silent_Magnus: Nov 28 2008, 03:41 PM -------------------- I may be lying
