Well, it looks like the fandom finally has a monthly Q&A thing like the Star Wars people have (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ironhide.gif)

A TFW exclusive: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers...-10-2008-a.html

Some nice answers, including info about the future of Universe in light of the movie line, as well as whether there will be an Omega Supreme anytime soon. I'll be looking forward to more of these sessions in the future. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)

Yeah, I kinda figured Universe would be put on hiatus to make room for movie figs, but I was REALLY hoping after last summer's....issues with keeping ANYTHING Transformer related on the shelves meant that this time they'd be prepared, guess not.

Still, at least it looks like a few exclusives will be coming out for Universe, which is good seeing as how without them I'll have nothing to buy until the line starts back up again who knows when.

QUOTE(Tony_Bacala@TFW2005)
TFW2005: Will Animated and Universe toys be sold alongside the new movie toys next year or will they be put on hold to make room for the first few waves of the movie toys on stores shelves?

Hasbro: Universe will be put on hold when the movie toys come out (although we will likely have a few new toys out in Universe as retailer exclusives). But Animated will continue with certain key assortments alongside of the new Movie toys. But we don't think of Universe being done, just on hiatus.
Sounds like I'll be saving money for a while again....

QUOTE
TFW2005: Will there be an Omega Supreme toy for Animated?

Hasbro: Not in the near future. In order to do Omega Supreme justice, it would need to be Leader or Supreme Class. And we typically only launch those as new molds in the fall. With the Movie coming out this summer, the higher priced toys will be in the Movie line. But we do love the way he turned out and would love to see him in the line.
I guess it kind of has to be this way, but it's frustrating to see cool ideas not get expression because of the movie line, which I'll almost certainly be passing on entirely (as I more or less did with the first movie line).

Cool. Looks like it's actually bi-monthly like GI Joe gets though - not monthly like SW.

I'm impressed by the quality of the questions though. It seems the Joe sites have been at it for half a year or so and there's still plenty of "WHY DO YOU MAKE THIS AND NOT THAT U STOOPID HAS-BLO PEEPUL?" questions.

How does the Allspark get in on the Q & A action? The Joe and SW folks take questions from multiple sites.

I'm disappointed, but not surprised, with the answer about the Alternity toys. Hoping these eventually come stateside even if it takes some time, a la Masterpiece Starscream.

Seibertron has a Q&A up as well.

And I'm kinda relieved Universe is going on hiatus - frees up money for the movie line.

HAW! Even Hasbro didn't like the "Dull Surprise" look!

Wow, some awesome questions there too. Here's hoping we can get some info from this end on Transformer/GI Joe cross-overs as the Joe Q & Aers keep dancing around the question.

I don't know what's more surprising. The fact that the answers are fairly informative, or the fact that the questions are mostly not stupid.

QUOTE(ActionFigs Q&A)
ActionFigs.com: A line of discussion that has come up many, many times among fans over the past quarter-decade of Transformers has been that of a combiner figure made up of the Dinobots. That has always felt like a fairly natural extension of some already popular Transformers concepts, yet nothing has really ever come of it in the line's 25 years beyond the rather underwhelming Energon Grimlock/Swoop set. We have combiners based on construction vehicles, airplanes, cars, military vehicles, trains, predator animals, sea life, Maximals, Predacons, even pretender monsters; yet not the beloved Dinobots. Why is that? And what are the possibilities of seeing a Dinobots combiner in the future?
Hasbro: Well, we can't really answer for anything other than what we have done for the past 8 or 9 years. Most of the reasons why we have chose the combiners we did was our past history. There never was a Dinobot combiner, so we didn't think of re-inventing it. That being said, there is no reason not to do a Dinobot combiner. I think in order for that to happen though it will need to be an important part of a TV series.

Am I the only TF fan that never, ever wants to see the G1 Dinobots combine? (Ugh! Now I've got "The Beast Within" in my head! Get it out! Get it out!)

Sigh. I'm really bummed out.

I would much rather Animated go on hiatus than Universe. Don't get me wrong, I understand that having a Cartoon is why one is staying and the other is on hold, and I like Animated fine, I just am not NEARLY as interested in it as I am in Universe/Classics. It's a rare Animated toy I'm interested in enough to buy, where as *ALL* the Classics/Universe have been MUST purchases for me.

Added to that, I actively dislike the Movie aesthetic toys alot. I liked the movie plenty, yes, and look forward to the sequel, just not a fan of that robot aesthetic, especially as it translates to toys.

SOO basicly it means I'm gonna have another LONG stretch of Nothing Much I Really Care About... sigh

I wonder how many waves of Classics/Universe/25th coolness they'll squeeze in before the movie junk takes over?

-ZacWilliam, also slightly bummed in the questions they chose to answer (boo repeats) I was hoping for more hints as to what's ahead for Universe (I crave a modern Pretenders, and the rest of the '84 Autobots)

I prefer them not to combine.

Some really great questions. I had figured that Universe would be on hiatus during the movie extravaganza. But that probably means over a year with not much of any Universe.

If you pay close attention to how the answer is worded, you'll see that Hasbro doesn't even really know at what point they intend to bring it back - just a basic goal of eventually getting back around to it, aside from the store exclusives.

The third question in the TFW Q&A and the first and last of the Seibertron questions gives me hope for an IDW Nova or Sentinel Prime.

Well, I can't see myself buying many if any movie 2 toys, so at least I should be able to save up some dough for Universe's triumphant return.

What the hell is "TFViews.com"? I've never even heard of it before.

Also, this pisses me off:
QUOTE
Hasbro: Galvatron was initially thought of as being an Ultra or Voyager scale. I wanted him big, he IS Galvatron after all. But we already had larger tank-like vehicles in the Universe line, such as Onslaught and Dropshot/Scattershot. So he was actually moved to Deluxe while he was still in the sketching stage. So he was actually designed and engineered to be a deluxe from pretty much the start, though having him larger would have been my preference.

He got sized down partially due to DROPSHOT?! A REPAINT?

But otherwise, this is sort of amazingly informative.

But that doesn't mean we won't do Blitzwing, just that the timing hasn't been right
Yesssssss
I can happily wait another year or two for a Classics Blitzwing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) (I'm a bit dissapointed with my Animated Blitzy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-screamer.gif) )

Interesting that they agreed with the creepy Universe artwork comment.

No. No, you are not.

A dinosaur combiner wouldn't be a bad thing, but I'd definitely prefer Dinoking over The Beast.

Considering I'm *already* getting psyched for the Movie 2 line, I have no problem with it taking precedence. Love the look, can't wait to see how they've improved on last time. But of the three (Movie, Universe, Animated), I will miss Universe, since although Animated is good, I prefer the Classic-style toys to the extent that when I see a new Animated design, I can't help thinking, "Aw, he could've been a Classic first!" It's just that darned G1 emotional appeal; if Animated had run solo without Universe to compete with it, I'd feel differently. But I'd been wanting updated G1 for so long, and now we have it. Glad to see that it's confirmed as coming back at some point after the movie; we didn't really have that assurance with Classics 1.0. ^ ^
