Looks like Japanese fans are getting theirs now. Very similiar in execution to the US version, but this one clearly uses the blue based on the cartoon while Hasbro's is the toy. To me that's the biggest difference, as previous Henkei vs Classics Seekers feature considerably more difference to me then the two Thundercrackers do (Starscream is completely different, Skywarp's biggest things are the launchers and purple, and Ramjet with the red wings and extra white). With that said, I think he looks great, but I'm not sure if he's better than the US version as the US one was nearly perfect as well.

I'm torn.

The bottom half of the Botcon one is more accurate to the show with the black studs, silver vents, and silver feet.

But I like the side painted chest vents, full wing stripe and overall more toon accurate blue of the Henkei.

I went with the Henkei because the cheapest Botcon TC on ebay is over 80$, and the Henkei cost me 76$ shipped. ^.^

Yeah, the Botcon one does a great job of cartoon layout on the legs. The Takara Seekers have paint on the knees to mimick the stickers on the toys. I am surprised they did this because it's not cartoon accurate. But they follow what Classics Starscream had for paint applications on the knee, so I'm thinking that may have factored into why Takara did that instead of painting the vents. Though, I was surprised TC uses silver on the studs rather than black (Skywarp uses purple not silver - but has silver launchers).

For about half a second there I confused one for the other when seeing the side by side robot modes. The jets are easily distuinguised from a distance.

The silver chest wheels are more accurate than the gray. They were white/light gray on the cartoon. Starscream and Skywarp had gray.

Huh.

Seeing that comparison pic, I definitely like the Henkei version better.

Now.

If only Acid Storm would start showing up around here....

I meant that the sides were the wheels flip out were painted silver and not left blue like they were on Botcon Thundercracker.

Interestingly enough, while they were white in the toon, they're black on both Robotmaster Thundercracker and the HoC figure but then back to white on the Robot Hero.

I don't care for the lighter shade of blue or the chrome. I'm quite content with my Botcon Thundercracker.

Have to say I prefer the BotCon one as well. The black nipples, silver knees, and chromed missle launchers just aren't "doing it" for me. Great chance for those that weren't at BC 07 to get a 'cracker though.

I prefer the Henkei versions myself, but not enough to deal with the hassle of selling my US versions and then buying these. I wouldn't really want to break up my Botcon set anyway, and I also wouldn't want to own them both at these prices.

Really pretty.

Now... what are the chances of a new Universe/25th Thundercracker and Skywarp release to go with that new Starscream?
...who is basically a color swapped/paint reduced copy of the Henkei SS...so maybe the precedent is there >_>

I can dream, right? ^_~
(besides I can't afford an 80 dollar "10 dollar figure" -_-)
