Curious about Animated Jetfire/Jetstorm (and I'm not really an Animated line collector anymore)

Baby toy or not, those Bumper Battlers are surprisingly fun to play with.

Wait a minute. Do not associate this thing in the picture with any delicious food. As a matter of fact, it is even inedible. It is a pair of shorts with meat pattern printed on it. Next time you go to supermarket for meat, you should be careful. Shorts are not delicious even though they come with meat patterns.

Animated Starscream is going to be with the Brawn/Beachcomber/Classics Bumblebee wave, appearently.

All of them say "December 2008", as well

Of course, I just want to know when I'm getting my City Commander set... ;-; September's almost over, dangit!

Edit: Animated Shockwave & Skywarp are up, too;

Swindle, Blurr, B. Lockdown, too. The wave is coming with plain Bumblebee, too.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one wondering what in Primus' name is going on with the City Commader set. The only thing I can figure is that Joel can't tell us anything until someone tells him, first. Obviously either it already is out, and Bigbad hasn't gotten their first shipment in yet, or there's been some delay, and FanCreations hasn't bothered to tell their on-line distributors, yet. Based on the gallery over at Seibertron and the other pictures that have surfaced rescently, including detailed, in-package shots, I'm betting on the former.

I'm getting horrible feelings about Jetstorm and Jetfire. If the rumor above is true, this could be very bad. Both of the Prime vs Megatron two packs, The Universe one and the Animated one, suffered from essentailly the same problem. Both were designed as action figures first, with that silly twist-and-punch gimmick first, and transformers second. Because of that, both sets of figures gained a more or less "Meh" rating from the fandom in general. The toys' few positives couldn't be overcome by what was a bad concept, much like most of Armada. Plus, what on Earth could qualify them as an 'Entertainment Pack'? Based on past history, there are just too many ways this wouldn't end well.

I believe they're going to be packed as such because they're supposed to have the ability to combine.

What I'm worried with the Jets being a two-pack is that "The Battle Begins" had horrible QC.

Yeah, but how good a combination gimmick can you get out of a pair of deluxes, before the rest of the toy suffers? We haven't been given any clues so far as to what kind of combination gimick they have. A combined jet mode like Darkwing and Dreadwind? A horizontal powerlinking supermode, ala GaoGaiGar? Or something like a miniture version of Omega Prime? I'm sure the last thing anyone wants is Energon style powerlinking, because once again, designing around the gimmick led to some toys that really could have been done just a bit better.

I'm hoping for the GaoGaiGar-esque Symmetrical Docking style. That was able to be pulled off without the seperate robots losing too much articulation, and that was ten years ago on Ultra-Class-size toys. I figure it could be pulled off well enough in Deluxe scale, especially in Animated.

I went ahead and pre-ordered Cheetor and Bruticus.

I was tempted to get the Animated stuff, but the single orders for Blurr and Swindle are sold out already, and I don't want another BB and Lockdown. And while the Skywarp and Shockwave are tempting, odds are I'll just wait until I see them in-store.
