TFW2005 is reporting that at Hasbro Italy 2009 Brand Preview it was revealed Optimus and Jetfire will combine in TF2.

http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/t...-in-tf2-165855/

I guess if Devastator is true, then they need an Autobot combiner to fight him. And it's a cool little nod to Armada.

i dig the nod [yay for more eras than just G1 getting most of them], but it doesn't feel... right for this context. i dunno. hopefully it's a toy-only gimmick, but if it's in the film itself i hope it's pulled off well.

i like how scouts may be back [hoping for a lot of offscreen ones beyond just the expected size-class variations on the standard guys], and how the toys may be showing the "inner gears" of transformation or something. i think i like that better than automorphing parts.

You know.

My dream scenario for TF2 whas:

QUOTE
Shockwave comes to Earth and revives dead Transformers in hope of revitalizing Cybertron and peiceing back together a makeshift Allspark. Combiners are featured to drive the point home.
Jetfire combines with Prime to kick final boss ass.

This. THIS. Industrial Light And M'Fn Magic GATTAI? In MY Transformers sequel?

Excuse me while I do the cabbage patch.

I hope the 5 minute combination sequence will have some flashy colors running in the background so I can swallow this anime driven drivel .

This could go badly if it's even in the movie. At least we know that we will be getting a new TF2 toy of Prime.

I fail to understand why 6 bots forming Devestator is a brilliant idea that must happen at all costs, but Jetfire combining with prime is uninspired Anime Drivel.

It's out of the blue, sure, and I don't buy the rumor, but hell, why not? With ILM doing it, that'll make one hell of a sequence.

PS: Who sent Michael Bay Armada? Oh yeah, I remember a bunch of fans last year going 'If this was an Armada movie I'd be ok with it'. Well, there you go!

I don't see how this is "anime driven drivel" anymore than Devastator or any other combiner.

Not in my mind but others have wondered if they were just going to repaint and or repack toys from the first movie.

I wonder how they plan on combining a longnose semi cab with an SR-71 Blackbird, without resorting to the "dreaded" mass shifting.

Its not like they have to use the pants - shirt style even though that is what everybody thinks of.
I imagine something like Powermaster Prime with OP forming the chest core and Jetfire the rest of the body. Kindof like the Ironhide-to-Prowl ratio in BW Magnaboss.

That's sort of what I'm expecting. Jetfire becomes a sort of flight suit for Prime.

Yeah, it sound like it could be really awesome with Jetfire functioning as an exo-skeleton like something out of Exo-Squad instead of just a new pair of pants. That'd pretty much even out the scale difference too.

Jetfire
Jet mode seeing how we haven't seen robot mode yet:
Length: 107.4 feet (32.73 m)
Wingspan: 55.6 feet (16.94 m)
Height: 18.5 feet (5.63 m)
140,000 pounds (52,250 kg) -- gross

Optimus
Robot mode because apparently nobody knows the dimensions on his truck mode:
28 feet tall
4.3 metric tons

How in the world would combining work?

O.o

I would have to imagine that the majority of the Blackbird's fuselage "neck" would collapse during transformation to robot mode anyway, taking a significant amount of its length away.
