TF2 Script Treatment?
Warning: If legit, this has Major, Major, MAJOR spoilers. If not, it's great fanfic. Read at your own risk. http://www.donmurphy.net/board/showthread.php?t=22660 This post has been edited by Master Fwiffo: Oct 7 2007, 09:40 AM -------------------- |

This is very strange.
It's method of posting and the timing would indicate fanfic, but there is a lot that a fan would not include, and that a fan wouldn't have left out (No sign of Shockwave or the Dinobots, for example). Just by the general reading of it, I actually believe it might be a real script treatment. And if it *is* real, then this movie will literally be the most epic that Transformers has EVER been. -------------------- |

For those who want the general premise rather then full spoilerific readings, the script focuses on 4 parties who come together at the end.
FOLLOWING HAS POSSIBLE SPOILERS, LIKE, PREMISE AND STUFF: HIGHLIGHT to view: 1) Starscreams faction, who are trying to capture left-over Allspark energy S7 stored on Earth 2) Megatron Loyalist, lead by Soundwave, who are after the Matrix (Yes, the MATRIX) so they can fully revive Megatron 3) Optimus and Co, and Mikalea and Hot ROd (YES! HOT ROD!) 4) Bumblebee, Sam, Sams new buddy, and Ultra Magnus (YES! ULTRA MAGNUS!) And it all basically boils down to huge effing carnage everywhere, while setting up for number 3 (think Pirates 2 or Empire Strike Back). -------------------- |

I HOPE THAT THIS IS REAL!!! This would make an AWESOME flick! HIGHLIGHT to view: I like the idea of Hot Rod not being trusted fully. Gives a lil edge IMO. I hate that all the autobots are perfect Good guys. |

HIGHLIGHT to view:
I don't like the idea of Mikaela dying. -------------------- ![]() "The Little Things That Kill" - A Shattered Tale by Razorsaw (UP-DATED WITH CHAPTERS 3 AND 4 2-25-09) --- QUOTE The Decepticon leader Megatron, who would be a truly great villain if only his strategic and tactical planning skills weren't somewhere between those of Wile E. Ok, after reading the entire thing, here are the items I find either lend itself to this being a legit Treatment and those things that make me question its legitamicy.
Things that lend to it being legit. HIGHLIGHT to view: #1. Orci and Kurtman said that in the second one they would like to focus more on Cybertron and we see that in this one. #2. The scope. Someone not legitimate may not have built in so much breadth to the treatment. Going from New York to Las Vegas. #3. Its a scan of paper that was once bound. If you were looking to create a fake to leak to the internet having it printed out, hole punching it as if it existed in a binder and then rescanning it is more thought than I'd give your average joe. Things that don't. HIGHLIGHT to view: #1. No mention at all of Ratchet or Ironhide. Given that these two characters were in the first movie, you'd think we'd get more indepth with them. Instead, this treatment doesn't even mention them. #2. Cpt. Lennox and crew. Again, no mention of them and you'd think they would continue on in the second script. #3. Rachel Taylor's character and that whole subplot. We were told at some point that this would be developed more in a possible sequel. #4. The whole Soundwave being a Shaman/God-like character seems a bit of a stretch. #5. There are several parts within the treatment that I am having a hard time seeing hwo they can translate to 'on screen'. -------------------- “An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it.”

Things that don't lend to it being legit:
1. They could be sitting this movie out doing something somewhere else that isn't important to this particular story. Lets say those two are around and active but aren't reformatted into a new form (new forms are necessary to sell new toys so expect to see a lot of them). 4. It won't be the exact same character as we know in G1 obviously, this new version could be a case of name reuse on someone with a completely different role. -------------------- |

I know this movie made alot but at the same time the cost for bringing this treatment to life would be huge. |

I appears the thread was removed. Interesting. Glad I got a chance to read it before it went poof.

Don Murphy says the treatment is fake. It was a great read though. It was a much better read then the other 'fake script' that was floated around early in TF 1 production. The one that had 'Grimlock' as a helicopter attacking an army base, and destaching Skorpinok, and a useless hacker sideplot. -------------------- |

Note Don Murphy's reaction to this treatment.
not the sort of reaction you'd have to a fan made treatment... this could be the building blocks for the future... or a pipe dream. -------------------- ![]() |

I'm mostly reposting this from the temp forum.
First, this post from Michael Bay's webmaster Nelson at TFW2005: QUOTE Hello, I'm Nelson, the webmaster for michaelbay.com. Before this came out, I posted this on our forum. ********** As the gears of Transformers 2 begin moving slowly, I wanna tell you some things... * This time around, I won't confirm or deny rumors unless Michael ask me to do so. * Be careful on what source you base your expectations on. * He who says "I know the plot" or "I have a scoop" might be be telling the truth in a false way...or might be telling a lie in a truthful way. *********** What I can tell you is that treatment wasn't a fan concoction. Take it as you will. So, it's not a fan concoction. But who wrote it? Or at least, whose name is on the treatment, yet blacked out on all pages? I've done a little detective work, and I think I found something interesting. From the bottom of page 4: (IMG:http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h70/destinb/treatmentp4a.gif) Hey, you can see a little bit of a name there! Looks like an "er." Let's experiment. I tried to match the font size/type as well as I could. I think I came pretty close, with one name typed in the middle. The font size is consistent for the title and author's name, slightly smaller for the date. Otherwise, no tricks, just italicized generic Times New Roman, kerned a bit widely and tilted slightly to match the angle of the photocopy. Check out the overlay, it looks pretty accurate, right? (IMG:http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h70/destinb/treatmentp4b.gif) So what name did I type in there, that ends in "er"? I'll just slide the layer down, not making any other changes: (IMG:http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h70/destinb/treatmentp4c.gif) Now, we still don't know whether this treatment is real, who ACTUALLY wrote it, where it came from, and whether ANY of it will end up in the finished movie. We just know it's apparently not a fan script, it's out there, and I think we now have a good idea who's listed as the author: confirmed TF2 screenwriter Ehren Kruger. Personally, I think it's a real treatment that Kruger wrote, and is or was under consideration as the story for the sequel. And I wouldn't mind at all if they based the movie on this treatment. They just need to fix it up so Sam doesn't spend half the movie driving across the country with a crude Asian-American stereotype, and it'd be a huge improvement over the first flick in terms of story. I mean, the first one kinda rode on the concept of giant robots fighting, and Shia's excellent performance. This sequel treatment has legitimately interesting dynamics between the Decepticons, and scenes and ideas that sound amazing on paper. I'd love to see how it would turn out on film. -------------------- |

I've kinda been avoiding saying things since I post a lot on Murphy's, but I'll just say this.
The 'fake John Rodgers draft' for movie 1 turned out to be real. Hollywood has a lot of politics and power within it's turning wheels. Things that have to be said, sometimes have to be said, even if what has to be said, is not what is fact. -------------------- |
