What's the update on the magazine? Has anyone heard? Last I knew, it was supposed to be a few weeks late because of all the problems with the website and re-registering. But now BotCon's over, and it's over a month late. Technically, we should be getting #45 at the start of next month. Is that getting pushed back too?

Actually it's late because of problems at the printers.
I believe that the GI Joe Club Magazine that was similarly delayed has now finally started hitting mailboxes. So all I can say is that hopefully they will start showing up soon. -------------------- |

Got mine last week, and I'm a third class new subscriber. It came ~5 days after Runamuck. -ZacWilliam, I like it. Really great, almost Roche-esque animated character on the comic art. -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

Since this is my first issue, here's a review:
Cover: Cute concept. Guess it was a contest winner. I think it might have been cooler with two of the actual nominees from this year, but you can't go wrong with uncomfortably close Prime and Megs. Inside Cover: Almost was gonna skip mentioning this page but the awesomely cute superdeformed Runamuck in the corner deserves praise. Hasbro Q&A - Nothing too new here but some interesting background, at seems they're atleast considering using the Bruticus engineering they developed for more Gestalts. Cyberverse Prime Magnus looks great here. Love the hammer. Love the cross between Animated and G1 styles for him. He's a must buy to go with my Classics Legends. I know there's no reason to believe so but A Prime Voyager or above for him would likely be sold on sight. Transformers: the Ride - Meh. Evac is sorta cool, just cause of his unique Theme Park ride origin but it's Movie stuff and they say it's not likely comming to Orlando which means I'll never see it. Meh. A Flash Forward part 2 Comic - As someone who missed part 1 this REALLY feels like Part 1 to me. I'm not sure what happened last issue but this seems the start of a new story. Like I said, LOVE the expressive cartoon quality of the the art. It's like if Roche and Guido had an awesome art baby. Which fits the G1 Cartoon universe well. Cliffjumper is funny and it's a nice story set up. I love the little touches like G2 Beachcomber and Inferno's Forestonite powers. It's not fair the cooler two of those Firecons don't have toys. Bios on G2 Sizzle and Jhiaxus - my favorite thing here is how the art makes-over the BM Jhaixus toy into G1 Cartoon style. They take a mold and redeco that I've ALWAYS DISLIKED and make me wish I owned it because the cartoon infield version looks really cool. Shattered Glass Animated - Meh. I mean it's cool that they're doing more Animated anywhere but my boredom and dislike for G1 SG apparently crosses over to Animated SG too. A bunch of stuff casting our good guys as dark psychos and killers just turns me off. Back Cover - Quiz is fun and I was surprissed it managed to out obscure me in a few spots. Recordicons is fun. The last issue review thing threw me off a little. Was that last issues Comic "part 1". Seems kinda disconnected and weird to have the recap after, rather than before the new story. Oh and who exactly is I-Que? Has he been around long? Don't see a wiki page for him. -ZacWilliam, very much looking forward to 45, for the comic alone, though the rest was neat too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) color me pleased with my first issue. The quiz has only been in a couple issues so far, and those have been I-Que's only appearances. He's the Transtech's Individualized Query Utility Educator of Universal Encounters (So really it's I-Queue, but it was shortened to I-Que), and is basically just an interactive computer program that educates the user by offering up trivia questions.
And Part 2 of A Flash Forward was written before Part 1. Part 1 was pretty much a different storyline entirely as it recreated one of the deleted scenes from the 1986 movie. It tied into the rest of the A Flash Forward comic by having it be a flashback told by Runabout and Runamuck. -------------------- |

...Hey, wait, I just realized my membership was supposed to expire in early April, and I didn't renew. Why did I get a magazine at all? The only thing I should've gotten is the Runamuck I haven't.

Yeah, still strikes me as odd given that the tone doesn't work at all, or that they tried to 'sex' Sari up on the letter page too. |

Maybe next they can make a Shattered Glass Shattered Glass - taking place in a bizarre backwards alternate universe where SG stuff is still interesting. -------------------- The TFWiki: when just five Infernos aren't enough. http://www.tfwiki.net

To be fair what made Shattered Glass interesting were some of the characters, in that they were able to explore ideas from a different angle than the original mainstream universe. SG Rodimus actually semi-effectual as a leader despite Gold Bug's 'Starscream' role for his team of autobots, Cliffjumper softening up his paranoid view of the world, even Optimus at times comes across far more dangerous than mainstream Megatron. The problem that comes up is that they're shoving too many ideas out the door at once before fully exploring them, and in some cases going less with alternates and just running with odd personal fantasies (i.e. not-Batman Ratbat). It's cute, but the cohesion isn't there, and they clearly don't seem to have an idea where to take it from year to year other than to show insertcharacterhere being reversed at this point.
For a lot of people though what makes this line tolerable is that we like the idea of our favorite villains being heroes every now and then, albeit as long as they're still identifiable. It's one reason I don't mind the Joes being in here because it'd be interesting to see Cobra from a Freedom Fighter organization angle, so long as they didn't change the characters too much from a mirror universe idea. Heck, the "villain is a hero" angle is probably the only good reason anyone remembers the He-Man Christmas Special. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif) ...swining back around to the Animated SG topic yeah it's just creepy, the characters aren't mirrored they're just psychopathic, and apparently Soundwave's hallucinations involve brainwashing with Barney. I'll pass thank you. QUOTE As far as I'm aware, the SHattered Glass Animated stuff was all Derrick Wyatt's idea. Then expanded upon by Jim and Bill. Guess it just needs more fleshing out then to see if it can go anywhere. This post has been edited by Kung Fu man: May 4 2012, 09:32 AM |

Season 4 of Animated would have had a Shattered Glass episode. That's where all this stuff is from.

I sent in a suggestion for an e edition version of the magazine right before things blew up with all the store and credit card stuff. I'd subscribe at a reduced rate for a PDF version formatted for tablet devices.
