Is there any way to modify the resolution of a steam game before launching it, or set the options to default? I've buggered up the graphics in a steam game and I can't set them back in-game.

Yup, right-click, properties, in the library screen, then advanced startup button on the first page, and type -safe Used it bunched, my PC is hooked up to a TV that can't do all the resolutions I want it to : ( I've been getting butchered by Brass beasts and Tomislavs lately. I wish they'd make the Bison raygun available to Heavies and Engineers to replace their shotguns.

Want to trade your extra hats for cold, hard games? Now you can!
QUOTE As we all know, Jonas Salk invented money in 1955 so he would have a way to earn a living from his polio vaccine. Before that, people just traded things they found for things that other people had found. So you might "sell" somebody a scrap of carpet, say, in exchange for an old bottle. It was a perfect system with only one drawback: people spent their lives bartering for piles of garbage before dying of polio.
But wait. What if we told you that you could barter for things that weren't garbage, AND not die of polio? Steam Trading Beta lets you securely trade your in-game items for other in-game items from participating games. You can also trade Steam gifts (games on Steam that you've purchased but not yet added to your Games Library). Want to try it out? In Steam, go to Steam > Settings, and opt into Steam Trading Beta. That's it! Now your Steam Community profile will have an item inventory, and you'll be able to view the item inventories of every public profile in the Steam community. Now that you've opted into the Trading Beta, you can invite people to trade through Group Chat, and trade with anybody in your Friends List who's also opted in. Just right-click on their name and select "Invite to Trade" from the dropdown menu. Once your friend accepts your offer to trade, a trade window will open up. The first time you open the trade window, a step-by-step walkthrough will guide you through your first trade. That's it! Opt in and get trading, or surf over to the Trading Beta FAQ for the nuts and bolts. And remember: Trading is still in beta, so don't forget to give us your feedback here on the Forums. -------------------- |

I'm not sure I understand how it works yet?
I wish I could trade unused games bought as a part of a package. Oh and anyone want a Grenadier's Softcap? I'll trade for any of the other polycount hats (Fez, Delivery Boy, Attendant)? Or make an offer? This post has been edited by Nanite: Aug 10 2011, 03:51 PM -------------------- |

Woot. Unlocked Natacha and The Family Business tonight, with the Gloves of Running Urgently last night. My Heavy is now consistently in the top three MVPs for matches. Granted I play only Payload at the moment, but still...

From Steam Support: How do I set the safe mode launch option? QUOTE The -safe launch option will cause the game to launch with minimal video settings, in windowed mode and with a 640 x 480 resolution. This can be helpful for solving video configuration problems. Open Steam Go to the "Library" Right-click the game which needs to be reconfigured Select "Properties" from the menu Click the "Set launch options..." button Remove any launch options currently shown. Type -safe in the box. It needs the hyphen: -safe -------------------- |

Check out these sweet LEGO TF2 guys!
Pyro is, of course, my favorite. He has the most personality. I love that the modeler even included a LEGO Archimedes. -------------------- |

So upon checking my bank balance...I went to the TF2 store. >_> Didn't go nuts, just bought The Brass Beast and The Bandanna for my Heavy and the Crusader's Crossbow and the Vintage Tyrolean for the Medic, plus some keys to unlock some Supply Crates which netted me a Strange Backburner plus a variant of the Powerjack.
Personally? I should have just sprung for the Tomislav instead. The Brass Beast is just...ugh. Not the best $2 I've ever spent. This post has been edited by Rust: Aug 11 2011, 10:08 PM -------------------- Nobody knows what we're for only what we're against when we judge the wounded

I dunno. It really does come in handy on the occasions I pop as a Pyro. That being said, that's not all that often. I suppose I wouldn't be opposed to a trade if the offer is good. It's a nice weapon.

Ahem.
QUOTE VALVE ANNOUNCES COUNTER-STRIKE: GLOBAL OFFENSIVE (CS: GO)
Next Gen Console, PC, and Mac Release Targeted for Early 2012 Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Team Fortress) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO). Targeted for release via Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam (for PC and Mac) in early 2012, CS: GO will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched exactly 12 years ago (CS beta 1, August 1999). CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more. "Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999," said Doug Lombardi at Valve. "For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS' award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac." CS: GO is being developed by Valve in cooperation with Seattle-based Hidden Path Entertainment. The title is targeted for release in early 2012 and will be playable at this year's PAX Prime and London Games Festival. For more information, please visit the CS: GO Steam page. -------------------- |

I definitely don't want to lose a Backburner, so maybe a straight trade? My Strange Backburner for one of your Backburners? A whatnow? You mean one of the other pyro melee weapons like the axtinguisher? No, I'm an idiot. It's actually a Strange Powerjack. In any event, if anyone's interested my Steam ID is GCRust. -------------------- Nobody knows what we're for only what we're against when we judge the wounded
