There's been a thread in General (as well as some threads on other sites) about a potential credit card security problem that may have arisen from TCC's online transactions:
http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=84493

The Club released a statement in an email and over their social networks (though I can't seem to find a direct link):
QUOTE
We posted statements through various Social networks but I wanted to make sure, due to all the comments, that a statement was posted here as well...

Just to let everyone know, we upgraded our online security systems as we understand that credit card theft is a growing problem in the U.S. Online security is a serious business and Fun Publications takes it seriously. We have implemented an ongoing review process of these security systems so that as internet thieves become more sophisticated, so will our defense systems. If you have any concerns, please let us know. When you order from anyone on any kind of device, make sure that https starts the url. This means it is under a secure socket layer and is encrypted during transmission. Additionally all information in our database is encrypted under a 256K algorithm.

We have been following the talk regarding the fraud problems but we haven't confirmed how many, if any, were on our end. This upgrade was a precautionary measure. Fraud can come from many sources and it is difficult to determine with 100% certainty what happened in those cases. We are dedicated to solving any problems and will do whatever is necessary to make shopping with the Club a secure experience.

If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us 1-800-772-6673

We wanted to make sure people here were aware that there MAY be an issue with credit cards used at the Club's online store or for Botcon registration, and that it would be a good idea to keep an eye on your credit card statements for suspicious activity. If you find some, and you've bought anything from the Club in the past year or so, please report the issue to the Club to help them figure out if it's related to their services. They won't be able to help anyone if people don't report the issues to them directly.

I should mention the theft that happened in the first week of January. I ordered G2 Ramjet and a club membership last year. Come new years, someone tried using my credit card in Madrid.

My wife and I had no idea where it could have been from. We use the card, but internet-wise most payments were through paypal or with a few trusted companies like BBTS and Robot Kingdom.

Anyone think there is a risk if the last/only time I shopped with the club was pre-Botcon 2010?

And like TFSource, they didn't bother to email me about this. So, like TFSource, these creeps can go to hell.

Eh? When? I hope I didn't just delete it. I should note that I'm no longer a member, so I'm not getting new communications.

You should still contact the Club to let them know about it so they can look into it. (Sorry, I can't recall if you said in the other thread whether you had or not.)

If you've not had any suspicious activity on your credit card statements, probably not? If it was that long ago, your credit card company is probably going to give you a new card soon anyway (if they haven't already). They're only good for a couple of years.

I do not, and I've been a member the whole time this has been unfolding. Still got it somewhere? Can you copy/paste to this thread?

Fortunately, the card I used for BotCon/member reg last year expired and has been replaced with a new date/security code, so I think I dodged the bullet.

That's exactly where and when my card, which I have used with the club, was compromised. A charge from EL CORTE INGLES MADRID ES posted to my account 03 January 2012.

(Got a replacement, but I think I need to go have a talk with my bank, now, too...)

No email here either. And no sings of fraud on any of my cards.

Still, kinda makes me wish I could renew my membership via check.

Can we go back to faxing them?

Otherwise, yeah. Renewing isn't worth dealing with any of this.
