QUOTE But a new version of it is going to happen now. Variety reports that Warner Bros. has set a screenwriter to get the project "bank on track," with the studio and DC clearly under the belief that the massive success of "The Avengers" means that a superhero-saturated market is still hungry for massive scale films with a mess of characters. The outlet reports that Warner actually put Will Beall on the job sometime last year, something we had not heard about previously, as they were trying to launch the project "quietly." I seem to recall hearing about a hastily done JLU movie which had David Ogden Stiers as the Martian Manhunter. Any odds on when that will ever see the light of day? -------------------- Lexicon: still up and running!

If he didn't watch out, he'd become one of us - a 'Mormon' or a 'straight,' which is what Clinton staffers called FBI agents, the Secret Service, and former Bush employees." Aldrich, Gary. The old movie aired on television in the UK. I'm sure you can find a download of it pretty easily.

Yeah, I figured this was coming after the Avengers did gangbusters. The sweet money train smell is too great. However, like with Superman Returns and Green Lantern, I'm guessing they'll not get what made the Avengers so successful and wind up screwing it up again.

It doesn't help that, while the Avengers were coming off of a series of independent successes, really the only DC superhero who's seen movie success lately is Batman, and the idea of a Justice League in that universe feels contradictory.

Too many Oreos! I'd love to see DC follow Marvel's lead and build up to a JL movie. Or possibly do the reverse -- make a JL movie and then follow up with individual superhero movies. The DC characters are way more iconic for me than anything Marvel has ever made. -------------------- I have signatures disabled because they suck.

Yeah, maybe Warner should try and have some smash hit individual superhero flicks before trying to follow Marvel's formula. GL bombed, and Nolanbats is devoid of any semblance of fun or possibility of more superheroes, and Man Of Steel's not looking too hot.

I have no doubts that DC and Warner will make the attempt. I have no doubt that it'll fail miserably and in all probability never get off the ground, much less see the inside of a movie theater.

I have no faith in Warner Bros' when it comes to comic book movies. Doubt this'll go anywhere.

I love how DC thinks they can just release a movie called "Justice League" and it will do comparable business to Avengers.

especially since I can see warner pulling the "---- embargo" crap they pull for every one of their big character movies. If the movie comes out alongside any sequel to Man of Steel, I'd hate to see a JL movie without Superman.

For a run down of the old Made-for-Tv JLA Movie, Nash and Linkara did a review on it last year: http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolink...a-1997-a-review
Bascially: They get just about everything wrong. Such as on the static image you see before pressing play; that Green Lantern there? It's supposed to be GUY GARDNER. So pretty quickly you can guess how down hill the film goes. As for this news: Yeah, I expected it and I doubt it will succeed. -------------------- ***Signature removed by Staff due to size restrictions. Please keep to 500X200 images and text included.***

*is now imagining a JLI movie with Booster, Beetle, Guy Gardner, Martian Manhunter, and Mary Marvel* The last JLA movie is pretty much the classic JLI lineup but with Booster and Beetle traded in for "Flash" and "Atom" (Gardner, Fire, Ice, Martian Manhunter, Flash and Atom). Not that I want to imagine what they would have done to Booster and Beetle... -------------------- ***Signature removed by Staff due to size restrictions. Really want a Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. That would make a great buddy movie. The problem is DC is very much in itself. Every hero crosses over with every other hero. None of them really exist without the others.
Ironbite-just imagining the logistics for this is....humbling. -------------------- |

This topic amuses me since I've been watching the Justice League animated series (having bought the whole run) and I thought the three part Starcrossed was easily comparable to the Live Action Avengers movie.
Incidentally, Starcrossed had two seasons worth of build up leading up to it. Moral of the story? You can't do a Team Movie without laying the groundwork first. But if they did...copy Starcrossed. Seriously. This post has been edited by Rust: Jun 7 2012, 09:48 PM -------------------- Nobody knows what we're for only what we're against when we judge the wounded

They should make some good Flash and Wonder Woman movies first.... GL, Batman, Superman (this summer) will have their origins explained. Any other leaguers like Hawkman/Hawkgirl, J'onn, and whoever else they want to add can be introduced in the JL movie.
Sadly, Marvel has the huge advantage that they have the funding (from the 'mouse') to produce 3 or more superhero movies per year. -------------------- |

Marvel Studios currently plans to only release up to two movies a year. The rest are the movies done by Fox and Sony and don't contribute to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (And, obviously, are all characters that have been introduced into the public eye already.)
And while I'd love to see a good Flash movie, and a Wonder Woman movie on par with the animated feature; seeing Green Lantern and how Man of Steel looks, I don't have high hopes. |
