(not sure if I've posted this or not)

Currently, Hasbro owns Wizards of the Coast.

WotC owns TSR.

TSR owns Dungones & Dragons.

As such, Hasbro basically has their own RPG studio right at their disposal.

Would anyone be up for a Transformers RPG?

I figure it could be done using the d20 system, just with some tweaking and alterations to compensate for the main characters being giant robots and whatnot.

I'd love it.

If it hasn't happened yet it probably never will, but I'd buy it in a second if it ever did.

I'd also kill for a serious, well done G1-based Magic-esque TCG which is saddly equally unlikely to actually happen.

-ZacWilliam, as I recal Hasbro/Wizards actually did a survey on their site a ways back to see if their RPG fans sould be interested and the response (from those folks) was very luke warm. Probably didn't help our cause.

Dice-based systems bore the hell out of me. No thanks.

How about a tabletop strategy game that utilizes the actual toys? All Transformers collectors pretty much have armies at their disposal already; all we need are balanced, well-written rules! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)

Technically a company already did one, although I think it's out of print by now.

But yeah, while I've seen a few unofficial rulesets using Champions, d20 Future, and some other systems, I'd love to see an official ruleset. I've tried playing in some TF RPs that were freeform, and while the actual RP part was fun (I miss playing Needlenose, weirdly enough), I think freeform sucks in structure compared to dice-based, and the games all ended up being a chore to play logistics-wise because of it.

Sounds like it'd be interesting, but ultimately confusing.

I'd rather get a transforming owlbear than a TF RPG.

TSR doesn't exist. WotC bought them and abandoned the name outright. D&D is owned by WotC, which is owned by Hasbro, which does not employ Kevin Bacon.

Gotta agree with Trent. If we're looking at IP exchanged between D&D and TF I'd rather see D&D monsters used as the basis for TF toys -- rather than TF toys used as the basis for an RPG.

Yeah, I'd dig D&D critters as TFs. Pelor knows there are a lot of them that're awesome.

I saw the title and thought of a CRPG.

I would be willing to see a transforming Modron just for the kitschy acknowledgement of the odd similarities.

And maybe a transforming Tarrasque.

Otherwise, I guess I'm just weird in that I find RPing as TF characters more fun.

displacer beast TF ftw!

I'd actually rather see a TF RPG console game, or mmo. something more story driven than mass destruction. There are plenty of cool options to work from, as WoC shows, and I think seeing the visual transformation works a lot better than describing it.

As to a pen&paper RPG, eh. I just can't quite feel it. Although, job classes applied to TF's make some sense. Infiltrator, Heavy, Medic, Disruptor, etc.

I could see a really good market for it if they rebranded Micromasters and Minicons for a miniatures game maybe.

I'm mostly familiar with D&D through Darksun: Shattered Lands. So if I want any sort of TFing monster? Totally a Thri-Kreen.

Or... uhhh... one of those black scorpion things.

(Okay, so I don't actually know the names of any of the monsters. Shut up.)

As much as I'd like to see WotC put out a decent TF RPG...if Hasbro can't even incorporate GIJoe into Heroscape, I doubt they'd ever do this.

I'd like to see a JRPG or RTS style TF game, a la Final Fantasy Tactics and/or Baldur's Gate II. You could do a wide-open one based on an interpretation of a G1 continuity, or you could do something a little more 'unified', like one based on the A/E/C universe. I would actually love to see something like this.

I did up rules for a TFRPG. I called it eternity and it was a D10 base system. That way the old tech specs could be used as actual stats for characters.

been some years since I dealt with it though. It was a pretty dense project that only myself and a couple others took seriously.

On the other hand they ARE incorperating the D&D IP into heroscape... HMMMMMMMM.

I have to say though, i think a well done MMO would be far more interesting than a pen and paper game. A tabletop wargame on the other hand, using minicon size/complexity miniatures that transform would just be sweet.
