Recently I have stumbled over this quite new comic (issue #1 came out in 2011 November) - Jurassic Strike Force 5!
And after looking at the covers... (IMG:http://www.fanboybuzz.com/wp-content/uploads/tdomf/7783/detail_3_Jurassic_SF5_number1A.jpg) (IMG:http://www.caiocacau.com/imagens/JSF4.jpg) Well, they are certainly not trying to hide they are pretty much ripping of Dinosaucers... Two teams of alien humanoid dinosaurs, fighting against each other, with human sidekicks... It's all there. Heck, both teams are led by a theropod (though in this case they are brothers), and Boomer even looks exactly like Terrible Dactyl, although he is on the good guy team. Both teams also have their token females as well. Thankfully, the human sidekicks are reduced to a scientist and his kid, although the latter makes every attempt to be as annoying as all 4 Dinosaucer kids put together. The story begins just like Dreamwave's TF G1 - but sans Lazarus - scientists unearth two spacecraft in the Arctic, releasing the bad guys led by an alien overlord, who wants to - guess what - take over the world! Then the universe! With 5 guys. Yeah. The good guys also awaken and without even introductions just speed off to fight the bad guys, and that's that. We don't even get any origin story until issue #3. So, yeah, it is pretty shoddily written. Tank, the triceratops guy has the personality of (2011) Panthro even as far as having a former friend turned nemesis on the other team (=Grune). Oddly though, the company thought the comic would be such a success, they ordered toys to be made. So far, Rex and Spike from the good guy team are past prototype phase, and are even up for pre-order on BBTS. So, in a way... we are finally getting those unreleased Dinosaucer toys some 25 years later. We just have to pretend Rex is Allo. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) -------------------- |

Well, this is about as stupid as the original Dinosaucers. Yay.
I like how the raptors are unanthropromorphized for some reason. Also, dinosaurs with boobs = laaaaame. So hopefully this will get buried and forgotten and never seen again! -------------------- QUOTE I'm bad at puns and not much good at anything else! |

Dinosaucers has been one of the cartoons that I just... never could get into as a kid. The characters, especially the villains, never took anything seriously. I mean, compared to Genghis Rex (what a silly name!) G1 cartoon Megatron and Cobra Commander were dead serious evil masterminds.
After watching TJTV's review of it recently, I checked out a few episodes on Youtube, and... yeah... As nonsensical as I remembered. Btw, have I mentioned that one of the Raptors has stolen Weirdwolf's/Yoda's speech pattern? I have the preview issue. They're essentially transformers in a way because they are aliens who took these dinosaur forms. It explains how they're weirdly humanish.
And I wouldn't hate on this, who doesn't want more dinosaur material? I mean, look at them. If those figures were cheaper I'd totally buy them. -------------------- |

I don't hate it... while the story is pretty silly, the toys are quite good. 15$ if quite cheap actually. In my country, a Cyberverse Commander costs over 25$...
