Looks like Hasbro is dead-set on clippy weapons.
I'm not completely convinced. How is everyone else doing with them? So far we have clip weapons on: Skystalker Recon Ironhide Darkmount Breacher And compatible bars on: Brawn Seaspray Mindwipe/Dreadwing/Strafe BreakDown/Oil Pan Side Arm Sideswipe Upcoming: Wreck-Gar Tomahawk Tracks Updated list: 10/15/2010 This post has been edited by Nanite: Oct 15 2010, 02:45 PM -------------------- |

Breakdown allows for clippage under his forearms. Mindwipe/Dreadwing/Strafe has clips on his legs too.
I don't care for them on Straxus, but I like them on Ironhide. Everyone else I'm in different too. They seem to work well on Tracks and how they'll work for Wheeljack as well. Randy -------------------- ![]() |

Eh, I find them on Straxus to be un-necessary. Then again, he DOES seem like the kind of 'con to have too many weapons.

Breakdown allows for clippage under his forearms. Hands. Unless there's another set of bars under his arms that I've failed to see, but given how his arms are molded, off the top of my head, I don't think so. Yeah something like that. It's been so long since I've seen mine. Randy -------------------- ![]() |

My problem is, I'm trying and failing to figure out a situation where a peg WOULDN"T have done the job better.
I think maybe breacher's turret is an example, but then there's the awkward posts added to his fists. I haven't found any weapons that look particularly good clipped on robot-mode legs. Not even Straxus smoke-launcher. -------------------- |

Was the clippy weapons thing an accidental thing that happen to be uber successful with Recon Ironhide that they decided to use it on other figures, or was clippiness planned from the getgo?

I think Ironhide's clippys were meant from the start to be used by Brawn.

Well I can't find any of them with the weapons, so I can't say if I really like them or not.
Regardless, I rather have 5 mm hands since I already have a ton of weapons for that. This post has been edited by Blade Raider: Oct 13 2010, 02:35 PM -------------------- |

I really like how Darkmount has multiple weapons and multiple places to attach them.

I've discovered that PCC Huffer's smokestacks can clip weapons too (they're 3mm! )

I like them pretty well. I tend to keep them with the figures they come with, so for me it limits their swappability a bit. Also, only 4 molds so far come with the weapons. They should have upped that number a bit. Like Seaspray or Bludgeon/Banzaitron, for example. Seaspray's harpoon launchers could have been clip-mounted, as well as Bludgeon's turret machine gun.
I do like how the gimmick wasn't limited to the movie toys and has spilled over into Generations. -------------------- |

Tomahawk has clips on his missile launchers and pegs on his tail/arms.
His are the only ones so far that shoot projectiles, aren't they? This post has been edited by Bleargh001: Oct 13 2010, 05:53 PM |

Sidearm Sideswipe has intentional places to clip weapons to on his fake leg springs, as well.
I personally think they're superfluous, but they don't really annoy the living hell out of me like random Mini-Con Powerlinx ports did. I wish they'd distribute the weapons a bit better than having some guys with a couple, then suddenly dump a chunk on one like Ironhide and Darkmount. -------------------- Fall of Cybertron will blow your mind. That is all.

I worry I'm going to break a clip. Especially on Darkmount, as the little mounts are just barely wide enough for the clip anyways.
It's a neat idea, but I'm with those who were fine with pegs. -------------------- Signature? I don't need no stinking signature.
