Just seen this on TV. Haven't seen it before so I'm assuming others haven't too.

Thats pretty damn awesome.

Its worth the $20,000 the guy was asking for and he was right to turn it down for $10,000.

We discussed it when it was new, I can't believe it was almost two years ago now.

I remember watching that... and wanting to smack the collector for even thinking of pawing the figures off. Anyone with half a brain would seek out other collectors and/or sell the figures on eBay. The Mirages alone would fetch an incredible price, given the irreplaceable nature of the figure.

I don't think the guy really wanted to sell then off. Just "trying" to to get his wife off of his back.

I agree. He just took Rick's offer and was like "Well, thanks for coming out."

Based on the usual patterns I see for the show he could have came down to 15 and Rick may have offered him 12. And honestly, you're never going to get out of your collection what you put into it selling it as a single lot.

And let's face it, Rick would have gotten some good stuff but there was a LOT of bottom dollar junk in that collection. All those Beast Wars toys are worthless. and a lot of the G1 stuff wasn't mint. Rick most likely would have flipped them to his toy store buddy for 15 and the toy store guy would have marked them up enough to get maybe the 20 grand overall, but I guarantee a lot of that stuff would still be sitting in his back room to this day. (two years later)

Oh, well that makes more sense. I honestly never thought of that.

I just got Mirage about 2 weeks ago, his missing spoiler and and his weapons about 5 days back. Plus I have my repro-labels set on the way.

I won't say how much I've paid total because it will probably be depressing to you.

From what I understand it's a two-fold thing:

The mold is one of those that degraded too far and is unusable, so he can't be reissued. But the real problem is that he apparently has a nasty tendency to snap at the waist (though I can't recall, now where I heard that), meaning that not only dose the figures decrease in number quicker, but there aren't any more of them being made.

Yeah, it's really, really hard to find an intact Mirage.

He should have sold the collection BEFORE the baby came. That said, he could probably get pretty close to the $20,000 he is asking by putting them on Ebay as a lot.

Mirage himself cost me $14.00. Chrome is somewhat faded, as were the decals. The waist had been snapped but the guy I bought it from had replaced the pivot with a metal screw and thus his waist turns perfectly.

After I factor in the gun, launcher, and 3 missiles, the extra spoiler, and the repro-labels, I'll have paid $46.00 for a very nice G1 Mirage.

Now, if I can get as lucky with a G1 Sunstreaker, I'll be sitting pretty.

'Tis true. I have 3 Mirages, one that is perfect and has all his accessories (and Reprolabels), and two who are in great shape other than being snapped at the waist.
