I'm toying with the movie style... It's harder to get a handle on this properly than I figured, at least in terms of making the finished product not look like a skull wrapped in tinfoil with googly eyes.

(IMG:http://people.clemson.edu/~micahg/MCRGMovie1.jpg)

I started with Grimlock, but I kept editing more and more parts of the original head out till all that's left is the vague shapes of the faceplate and some abstracted antennae. He's somewhere between the Autobot "WHEE MOVING PARTS!" aesthetic and the "RAAAAGH POINTY FEAR ME!" Decepticon look. Not the cleanest pencils ever, but it's sooo shiny.

No idea what colors I should throw on this thing.

Very nice work on the shading, Spark. The head kinda reminds me of a movie version of RID/Car Robots Omega Prime.

Thought about it. I'm not sure how, though, since the movie's all disguise-oriented and giant robotic T-Rex isn't exactly a good disguise...

Tell that to Scorponok. Maybe Grimlocks protoform crashed in the Atlantic Studios Jurassic Park theme ride or something? XD

Who knows. Its all up to a storyline to justify an oddity. =)

Like... Have Grimlock be a triple changer with a normal vehicle mode and a more saurian robot "battle mode". Like battlemasks and gun arms on crack.

Anyway. Really sweet pencil work. =) This will look awesome when colored. The expression is also neat, all grumpy like. XD

I think you have the movie aesthetic nailed down quite well. The teeth gives him a bit of War Within feel and the shady is top notch. Especially in his eyes. As far as a vehicle mode would go, you could make him a tank similar to the War Within version, but give his robot mode some more saurian elements to it. Sorta like how BW Dinobot has a rib cage.

Hey, there's a thought.... Throw some saurian elements into the bot mode... Hmm. I have much to think about now.

This could easily be official movie concept art. It's VERY professional. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ironhide.gif)

Anyway, I'd love to see you do the whole design.

Yeah, I think a giant robot T-Rex would be silly as hell on the big screen. Very Mecha-Godzilla. Grimmy should be a tank but not an ordinary one - something big and menacing that looks like it will crush you and tear you to pieces all at the same time.

The colored version. Since the movie seems to mostly stick to the color schemes of the G1 counterparts where one exists (even to somewhat dull effect with solid silver Megatron), Grimlock gets stuck with a mostly black head, two shades of red for his original one, and three shades of silver for innards.

Heres Hoping Grimmy looks this good in the upcoming movies..

Mind taking a shot at doing movie Arcee, she getting a toy, so why not. I ask cause I see you have the skill to pull off such a task.

Robotic, yet feminine.

I think Arcee's already been defined via the prequel comic cover, but I could take a crack at something different anyway.

it looks a lot like one of the head designs from dhj for transtech actually.

but that's sort of the asthetic for most of the designs anyways. brilliant pencil work!

I didn't notice the fact that you mirrored one half of his face. It was brilliantly done! The design as a whole is brilliant! My only complaint is I think he has a bit too much red on his colours. But other than that, Kudos!
