http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/new...-preview/23021/

On page 2 I recognise Swerve, Quickmix, Rad, Mainframe and Rewind.

Is that Ironhide there too? I don't recognise the bot on the left and the bot at the back.

Is Soundwave now in Soundblaster colors? Hard to tell.

Not sure who you're pegging as Quickmix - that's Slamdance sitting in the middle between Rewind and Rad. I'm pretty sure that's Sureshot on the left, and I theeeenk the Ironhide-looking guy (Ironhide's on Cybertron) is Crosshairs. Dunno about the guy in back.

Like the way this issue is going more than the previous few. Nice to see survivors of Kima (even if the two I'd personaly want most, Grotusque and Lightspeed, aren't likely).

The dialogue with Chromedome and Brainstorm is actually pretty funny. Both about their situation and their rescuer. These are mostly tech nerds after all and their dialogue seems suitably humorusly geeky.

So Rad, Manframe, Swerve, Rewind, and Slamdance atleast also survived. And a handfull of other unidentifiable-due-to-art folks. I'm trying to figure out who that is next to Rad. The head reminds me of Grotesque a little (wishful thinking I know) but the body is wrong. I'm gonna guess Crosshairs with the head collored wrong.

So who are those with Sideswipe above Wheelie when he's on the ground? Anyone? I don't even have a guess...

And what are those jets firing on Shockwave at the end?

-ZacWilliam, DID enjoy the Chromedome part. But for every nice dramatic painted moment there is a weak-storytelling, who the heck is that meant to be? moment still.

My guess is that panel represents the exact moment someone remembered Galvatron's army was supposed to be more than Sweeps, and they're going to suddenly be a lot more varied from that point on.

I like how they gave us 7 pages this time because they realized two pages are just explosions.

Also, where DID the Decepticons come from? It was never really made clear where they all went after Megatron turned himself in.

IDW transitioned to 7-page previews back in April. And I think Soundwave looks fat in that incentive cover due to perspective wonkiness.

I don't like the dialogue on the first two pages. It's something you see in a lot of Bendis comics; sort of pithy dialogue that doesn't tell you anything about the characters, and could in fact come from any character at all. I can excuse Chromedome being treated as a cypher since he's barely figured in IDW and his previous characterizations have been all over the place, but Brainstorm's been pretty well pinned down in his previous IDW appearances. He's J. Robot Oppenheimer. There's nothing here to suggest who he is, or even his level of authority on Kimia, and that's a waste.

I can't follow the two splash pages at all, but I assume that's because this is a 2-page spread that shouldn't have been chopped up like this.

"Dialogue that can come from any character at all" has definitely been one of Costa's problems. All of his characters sound the same and even act the same. (Just think about Prowl in Ongoing #1, or Streetwise in the last couple issues, Jetfire, etc.)

At least when Furman had all his characters speak the same, he pulled out obscure characters to be awesome and gave them funny Furmanisms to say.

I really hated the weird movie style artwork they were doing a year ago. This new watercolor thing...I think I hate it a little less. But I still hate it. And it seems like a lot more work than just doing it like the "Police Action" stuff.

Okay, if nothing else, this issue wins for having Drift HIGHLIGHT to view:
gut himself.

Rest of it actually was pretty decent too, I'm impressed. Perhaps Costa can at least end on a high note.

...wow. There are times when I think the Drift-hate has gone a little too far.

HIGHLIGHT to view:
Seriously though, he "gutted himself" in order to keep himself from hurting the other Autobots or merging into the Decepti-thing. That's an act of bravery in my humble opinion.

Speaking of, why are the Decepticons (or former Decepticons) the only ones merging with the Sweeps into this Decepti-God? I get why Megatron might be immune with his recent upgrades and all, but what's stopping it with everyone else, or the Autobots?

In any case, yeah, at least as far as Chaos proper is concerned, Costa does look to be going out with a bang.

I never said he didn't have a good reason for it, it was just satisfying and humourous to see.

HIGHLIGHT to view:
They stated he still lived in whatever case.
