After the FansProject Crossfire came out they reused the molds as homages to Micromaster toys. I was wondering, with all the investment into making the TFC Toys Hercules toys, would you want the toy makers want to remold or recolor them as other characters? I don't know what, maybe a simple recolor in Diaclone, G2 or SG colors, or with new colors and head remolds as Sixbilder? Or remolded as a non-combiner as other characters? Like making three of them Autobot Double Targetmasters with new heads and guns?

What would you want to see?

I don't think a lot of people are going to shell out for another set.

Maybe as a way to market individual figures to people who passed on the set, but myself, I don't really see any recolor/remold needs. As it is I'm still trying to work out how to afford a set myself.

I'd buy Autobot double targetmasters BEFORE I bought them as Constructicons.

I'm... not really actively looking for a way to spend MORE than $600 on those molds... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-wildride.gif)

The molds aren't nearly good enough to justify the $100/piece pricetag without piggybacking on the 25 years of Constructicon love.

So the Autobot Double Targetmasters are only 23 years old, but it would only cost $300 to buy them. ;-)

I'd be interested in seeing them in different colors (Sixbuilder, Diaclone, whatever), but I probably still wouldn't shell out the money for the set, so...

I imagine there might be a small market for a limited run in G2 colours. I wouldn’t be in that group, but then I don't think I've bought any G2 recolours of newer toys ever. Some people obviously have.

I'm not sure you could make new characters out of these molds without enough retooling that it would be cost prohibitive for how many you'd actually sell.

I think Movie-Devastator-inspired color scheme would be a better option than G2 colors.

Now I'm wondering if they could find matches for the other three Constructicons and make an Autobot Devastator (Heracles?).

Completely minor characters who very few people care about

I mean, it could be done, just like the Collosus limbs into those two Micromasters. Of course, the other issue is that, just like the Micromasters, people probably aren't going to buy them

Yes, but with cooler characters.

If by "cooler" you mean "less well-known and demanded even in the fandom they are directly targeted to."

You can sell people on $100 Constructicons and Ironhides and Rodimus armors. There's a wide swath of the fandom that likes those characters enough to justify the cost. Not so much a trio of second-string TMs with barely any fiction and barely any resonance within the fandom.

Heck, I love that trio a lot. Possibly three of the guys that I'm most nostalgic for in the entire brand... but even I would have to think long and hard about if I $300 love them, while at the same time I'm greedily looking forward to $100 Constructicons and even paying extra to get Reprolabels.

The plain and simple fact of the matter is that at the current cost of these molds, even the most obsessive fan can only justify them once, no matter who they might get reused as.

I understand where you are coming from, but consider all the engineering ALREADY went into it, we are just looking for what is the best SECOND use of the molds. The question IS NOT whether the Autobot Double Targetmasters are popular enough to justify new Deluxe size third party molds, the question is.. if they recast the molds as someone else, which would better, recolors of the Constructions (G2, Diaclone, SG), or casting them as new characters. I might point out the same points could be made for Micromaster Growl who is homaged by Warcry. He was NOT someone you'd think would get a 3rd party toy. He did get the redeco of the 3rd party homage to Swindle (Munitioneer), when they could have easily done G2 Swindle, or RiD Rollbar, or any of the other redecos of that mold. They already made the mold, I have full expectations that the mold will be reused at least once. Which one makes the most sense? A straight recolor that would cost $600 and be less popular than the original, or a remold that has the set cost $300 and would have some slight changes to it, like Growl did?

So a crane, a bulldozer and an excavator?

Crane... RID Hightower or Micromaster Crumble or Micromaster Erector

Excavator... RiD Grimlock.

Bulldozer... there was Micromaster called Neutro.

Of course you could always just go the rout of recasting them as Sixbuilder. http://www.tfu.info/1992/Cybertron/Sixbuilder/sixbuilder.htm

...see, the fact that you're seriously still arguing the viability of $300 for the secondary character options AFTER spending $600 for the primary ones tells me that you're either unable or refusing to see any rational counterpoints here.

I actively desire the characters you're suggesting, and I'm still not willing to unload all that money for molds that aren't specifically meant to represent them from the ground up--especially not after spending all that money on the characters they were primarily designed to be. It's not that it can't be made to work--it's that it can't be made to work well enough for the cost involved.

It's just not a viable thing for even most of the ardent fans. You're talking a significant cost for what amounts to significant half-assing no matter what gets done.
