I finally got around to picking up Classics Onslaught today, and his siren repeats appropriately when the button is held down.
For all two of you who don't already have him or those of you with upsetting variant-completism, this may be of some interest. Sorry if this has been reported already. |

I wonder if there's any way I can fix that problem myself... I just can't see myself spending 40$ Canadian on the same toy just for a longer siren sound. Not unless Hasbro announces a recall or something.

LV: Is there any way to tell by looking at the package if it's the corrected version? I've already got mine, and I don't mind the chirp (if the traffic won't move, it's their problem.) It would be fun to know if the one I bought off Amazon for the toy drive is fixed or not. This post has been edited by Autobus Prime: Dec 8 2008, 05:23 PM -------------------- |

I'm sure it's the same packaging as the original one, but I don't actually have the initial batch with which to compare. This post has been edited by Liquid Velcro!: Dec 8 2008, 06:00 PM |

DUH!!!! Just buy the new corrected one, then put the old screwed up version in the box & return it. That's what I did. I can't believe how many people are dumb enough to say something like "I can't see myself buying a second Onslaught." Nobody has to buy 2 Onslaughts, just buy the good one & take the bad one back. It's not our fault they shipped out broken toys. Let the store send them back to Hasbro. I remember my G1 Roadbuster's arm snapped off the 1st time I tried to transform him. We took it back to the store. IT WAS BROKEN! Your Onslaught is BROKEN! Take it back & get one that works. Double DUH!!!! |

Double DUH!!!! that's where you are wrong....it ain't broken, it's sound clip doesn't have a loop programmed into the soundchip. and besides the toy AIN'T BROKEN, so right back to the shelf it will go and some poor kid will buy it and they are stuck with the defective onslaught....and that ain't right This post has been edited by maximus prime3: Dec 8 2008, 10:34 PM -------------------- ![]() |

That's not really toy swapping as we usually define it. I mean, the toy WAS technically defective, and you're only returning a toy that we all gladly bought for months. And it's not as if someone can't test the damn thing in the package when they see it in the store, same as any other Onslaught.

This thread raises some interesting ethical questions.
As a happy medium, you might either intentionally break the defective toy and return it, or return it as pristine as possible with a note explaining the return should the store be unethical and put it back on the shelf and have someone else buy it. Hopefully he returned it as he would a normal broken item though, and told the store it was broken when he returned it. If he just returned it "as new" and bought a new one, and it gets put back on the shelf...

Well if you tell them your toy had a defect they aren't supposed to put it back one the shelf.
Like I've returned several tfs to my local TRU and I've NEVER seen them on the shelf again because I told them there was a problem, but there are places that just don't care. Which is why we see energon downshifts in a movie blackout box. And while I don't support it, what rip says isn't toy swapping really. Its the same exact toy with one difference most kids wouldn't even know about, but like I said I'd never do it, and it still feels a little underhanded. |

I don't know... I like my one time chirp on Onslaught before he gives out a salvo of machinegun fire. It makes you think he's cruel enough to mockingly give a chirp before he fires and plows traffic out of the way when battling Autobot scum.

Its the same exact toy with one difference most kids wouldn't even know about, but like I said I'd never do it, and it still feels a little underhanded. It does, a little, but I still take Walky's point. You wouldn't be profiting on the deal, you end up with the same toy you already had for the same price. You're not denying anyone an Onslaught, because they can still buy that same toy and judge for themselves if the defective noise makes a difference to them. The store's not being denied anything either, they've got the same item for sale when all is said and done. The only really unfair scenario is if someone who was completely ignorant about the defect--but, had he known, would have opted for the new version--happens to buy a defective return and discovers the difference later, and is unable or unwilling to return it himself. -------------------- This week at Comic Critics!: Like a Brit out of Hell

Eh, I never kept the batteries in for long, anyway. Our flashlights and other small, useful electronics around the house could use them instead.
