I'm referring to the most recent posting about the SDCC Pony exclusive done in rhyming verse, which was about nothing but MLP. Second paragraph of the news post on the front page: QUOTE Joining Zecora in a sneak peek offering at SDCC will be a Marvel Universe X-Factor gift set of toys. The set includes Mr. Sinister, Apocalypse, Angel, Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Iceman. Fans attending SDCC will have a chance to own the figures before they hit Toys R Us stores in August. In the actual follow-up link they list 10 different Comic-Con exclusives. Why are you complaining about news posts you're clearly not reading? I love that you just gloss over the rhyming verse and picture of the pony that led it off. Anyway, the article was more than enough to illustrate my point. Just because the post talked about other non-transformer related items doesn't do anything to invalidate my post about this being a Transformers news board. Constructively, I think a lesson can be learned from the example set by TFW: they (as a Transformers site) focus on Transformer news. Toyark focuses on non-TF news. Hisstank on Joe news, etc. Yes they do roundups, but those are generally pretty unobtrusive. If you guys want MLP and other non-TF stuff reported on so badly, why not set up a sister site called Allsparkle or AllBronies and go from there? You're absolutely entitled to your love of pink horses, I just don't see the need for it, or other non-TF stuff, to be reported on here. This post has been edited by Magnus: Jul 4 2012, 01:41 PM |

The pony picture simply made for the best thumb.
As for the rhyming, that was me having fun. I would have done the same if it were Wheelie or Roadblock. -------------------- |

QUOTE I love that you just gloss over the rhyming verse and picture of the pony that led it off. I do too. Because it was a rather ridiculous complaint. It was an unobtrusive post, but you saw something pony related and have thrown yourself into another rage over MLP. At the end of the day, Kal and the staff make the final call on how, and what kind of news is reported - and in all the years they've tirelessly done it on our behalf, they should have our respect to let them make that call without backseat reporting. The pony picture simply made for the best thumb. As for the rhyming, that was me having fun. I would have done the same if it were Wheelie or Roadblock. Thank you for doing what you do to keep the site fun and friendly for everyone. This post has been edited by Matthias Phage: Jul 5 2012, 03:05 AM |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-primal.gif) Clearly, no horseplay is allowed, and all offenders will be told to hoof it. Transformers is the mane focus here, not this "fun" tomfoolery! I think that's kind of what this part of the forum is for, yes? It's kind of funny to see all the bronies who angrily come out of the woodwork when you stir things up a little bit. Carry on. |

I'm not a Brony. The Allspark has rather frequently ran non-TF news in the past. Usually, as was the Comic-Con news, Hasbro related. I'm having trouble tracking why you haven't had an issue with the non-TF related news coverage in the previous years. Considering your rather fiercely demonstrated anti-MLP stance in the past, and your repeated mentions of it in your complaint, it seemed like you were specifically upset over that. I mean, I assume you've been reading the news site all this time since it means enough to you for you to be concerned with how the staff runs it. And as per my response earlier, you'd have seen that when I was using the TFW model as a comparison, I indicated that I wasn't against occasional non-TF related news, like news roundups. It just seemed to me that there was more non-TF news being reported on the frontpage than usual lately, and I found it kind of ironic that there were reports being made on things like MLP and GI Joe while what is probably the best Broadside that will ever be produced in ever was completely ignored, officially-sanctioned or not.
But once again, it looks like i'm in the minority on this one, so i'll just resume floating along in the background again. |

You're advocating for having no non-TF news, yet...you want more non-TF news? FansProject, iGear, all the stuff you want? NONE OF THOSE ARE TRANSFORMERS! They're Transformers RIPOFF product. Knockoffs. IP thievery. If Has/Tak didn't do it, or didn't properly license it, it is NOT Transformers, and it doesn't matter how close to TFs it is. In fact, it's even worse when the IP thieves come so close to TFs, since some people, obviously, mistake it for TFs. -------------------- RIP Libby - Died June 1st, 2012

It's a bit more nuanced than that I think, but the fact is regardless of legality, they have more to do with Transformers than the other toylines in question. Following the spirit instead of the letter etc. etc.

I'm still not quiet up to speed on why people just don't scroll past news they don't want to see... O_o?

Because some people simply must go out of their way to be affronted by something completely harmless and then inaccurately broad-brush everyone who calls them out on being unreasonable.

Eh, I'd rather just reach into my stable of puns to try and lighten things up - but if I keep it up too long, I fear I'll be put out to pasture. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)
