Blueshift, is there a place one could take a quick gander at those horrible fics? I´m morbidly curious...
And regarding the Fallout: Equestria fic you guys have been praising so much: Is there a quick synopsis available? Because frankly, the idea of MLP:FIM meets Fallout sounds terrible. |

I'm terrible at summing up things, I'm afraid, but the story is a lot better than the premise sounds, it is a lot less "Ponies in Fallout" and more a story that uses the properties of the FiM and Fallout universes to create something of it's own thing. I guess I'd need someone to summarize it properly, though, help? -------------------- QUOTE I'm bad at puns and not much good at anything else! |

I'm not honestly a fan of FO:E myself, but I don't like post apocalyptic things, and prefer stories that are tighter and focussed rather than sprawling. I don't begrudge anyone else liking it, but not my cup of tea.

That seems to be the first major hurdle for the fic to overcome. |

Way to go Legion! I've tried three times. The first time I got a raving review from the reader, but there were too many errors. The second time, same thing. The third time, there weren't any errors, but the reviewer didn't like it so he didn't submit it. Oh hey cool I'm one of the pre-readers for EqD, you'd actually be shocked at how many stories get submitted. Usually about author insert characters falling in love with Fluttershy! Give me a heads up if you're going to submit something, I can give it a once-over first if you want. Wow, very cool, Blueshift! I may take you up on that in the future, if you don't mind! What I keep seeing on FIMfiction.net is teenage / twenty-something humans falling into Equestria and turning into ponies. (Maybe those are the same self-inserts you're talking about.) I keep hoping for the day someone actually does something interesting with "humans in Equestria", like "eighty year old woman who is lonely because her grown up kids all died before she did falls into Equestria." Sort of "Howl's Moving Castle" with ponies. That said, I think there is just something about the human brain that makes "me, within this cool universe" the first thing everything wants to write. It's the first thing I ever wrote too, all those years ago. (I will refrain from saying just how many years. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif) ) It's just a natural part of growing as a writer, I guess. This post has been edited by Legion Maximus: Dec 16 2011, 11:23 AM |

Hey, can't blame them. Teenagers/young adults are lonely. I used to honestly want to marry Black Cat. :/

That seems to be the first major hurdle for the fic to overcome. Let me see if I can create a decent summary without giving much away: Due to a combination of the Zebras superstisiously fearing Luna and resource conflicts, Equestria and the Zebras basically wipe each other out in a war of megaspells that devestate and poison the land and wipes out most civilization. Now 200 years later a unicorn named Littlepip leaves one of the few remaining fallout shelters on a journey through the Equestrian Wasteland to bring back her idol, Velvet Remedy. Along the way she runs into many obstacles and gathers many friends. Eventually as the story becomes more and more epic she works towards both finding her place in the world and making the Wasteland a better place. -------------------- Signature? I don't need no stinking signature.

That's a great summary, crazyjw. It's really hard to avoid giving spoilers . . . it's an excellent story, in any case.
New chapter of Canterlot Follies: http://www.fimfiction.net/story/1757/6/Can...ave#chapter_box Comedy, how I love writing yooooou. Also, an illustration from the previous chapter, currently my favorite: (IMG:http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/338/b/b/hell_hath_no_fury_by_ladym-d4i4vit.jpg) IF LOOKS COULD KILL. |

Would anyone be interested in a fanfic that's... kinda scary/violent? Not detailed gory or anything, but it would involve characters dying, for example.
Just had a random weird idea, and was wondering if anyone here would even be interested in it for me to go ahead and write it. -------------------- ![]() |

Could you post a link to your fanfic, TM2Dinobot? I am feeling EXCEPTIONALLY LAZY today, too lazy to go back through the thread looking for it.
As far as Srs Bsness in fanfics like death and disease, I am okay with it . . . if the descriptions are not too gorey (I skipped through the goriest parts of Fallout Equestria, for example, I just can't take that kind of stuff) and if it seems to add something to the story. Hey, is anyone here British? I need to know if "armor" is spelled "armour" in British English the way "color" is "colour." |

Allons-Y! As for gore, there's not too much in mine. Some battle sequences, but I prefer to make my ponies cry rather than beat them. Well, at least until Appolyon shows up... Hrf. A shame I missed the Pony Writing Training Grounds.
Too much Story rattling around in here, not enough output... A question, though. If you're doing a crossover with a second established story... Is it poor form to recreate a few scenes close to word-for-word, albeit w/ponies? -------------------- |

Nope. In fact, I think it adds a sense of continuity.

I've now finished The Star In Yellow! It's been pretty popular so far so hopefully this will keep up the high standards!
Part 3 - http://blueshift2k5.deviantart.com/art/The...Three-277233296 Part 4 - http://blueshift2k5.deviantart.com/art/The...-Four-277234188 I've put it on Fimfiction too, since I know some people prefer that. http://www.fimfiction.net/story/5713/The-Star-In-Yellow -------------------- |
