I have to say, the shots we got of the one Predator with the elongated "tusks" on the mask is reminding me of the Kenner figures.

Okay, I grinned at the end of the teaser when you hear the whispered "over here".

As it stands though, I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm glad he's going to try and give the Humans equal billing, and not make a whole bunch of cannon fodder, but along with the "newer, nastier breed" I still wonder if we're not just going to get a rehash of "Aliens" but with Predator instead.

I think the Pred hunting dogs would be just fine without all the "rawr I is scary looking" spikes. The perfect thing for running around in the underbrush, a dozen foot long forward facing spikes.

This is not necessarily a bad thing. Every attempt to make Aliens and Predators in other fashions has been bad at best.

It's a simple plot with a simple requirement.

I had not heard about this before now either - let's hope they can do it right.

No argument from me. However, Aliens and Predator are two very different franchises with very different feels.

The fact we're getting multiple Predators already gives me great pause. The Predator is a Hunter without peer. I mean come on, in its first movie it manages to completely decimate a Special Forces unit. Now I don't know these Human characters backstory, but the fact there are multiple Predators after them when one was sufficient to tear through some of our best of the best makes me think the Predators are slipping quite a bit.

Since this is a game preserve, maybe these are the yuppie Predators coming out for a weekend in the country shooting defenseless animals.

Which again, cheapens the whole deal. Predators are supposed to be apex hunters. To see the "younglings" or "yuppies" out for a weekend of sport just kinda lessens the whole deal - at least for me.

Personally, my ultimate Predator movie would involve a single Predator stalking a Company of Soldiers throughout their deployment. Not a sudden "culling of the herd" but a long process over several months of picking them off in ones and twos - sometimes not even leaving evidence behind so the Captain doesn't know if they were killed or simply went AWOL. Slowly build up to the confrontation with the Predator as the survivors begin laying traps of their own and begin to learn about their aggressor.

Also showcase a Predator hunting in different environments. We've had the Predators in the Jungle (Which this seems a throwback to) and a cityscape (Also a cave like system, if you want to bring in AvP). I want to see a Predator stalk prey in the desert, how they adapt to the heat and how they mask their trail (if they even bother to). Also show off some different Predator weaponry in addition to the classic armament (I have this image in my head of a Predator laying flat on a dune, covered in wrappings to disguise his location (As the camo system the Predators have wouldn't work well in the desert where there's not much undergrowth to help break up the silhouette) zooming in on a soldier who freaked out and went AWOL with a Sniper Rifle like Spear Gun).

That's why Predator needs a weekly animated series, or some direct to video animated features. There's so many awesome things to be done that are either too simple, or too complicated for a movie, but would fit just fine in weekly installments.

I'm guessing at this point, we should just assume that the one in the first movie was just abnormally good. The second movie gave us a novice, AvP gave us some novices and AvP:R gave us another good one, if one who kinda failed at the end to do what all self respecting Predators do whn the going gets tough.

So instead of Predators, they should be called "Ugly Aliens with Sharp Pointy Things to Stab You With".

I could have swore the predator in 2 was supposed to be a veteran and actually more accomplished then the original one.
